🇲🇽 🇮🇹 🇺🇳 Building stronger partnerships to address organized crime and strengthen prison systems 🌐 Within the framework of the programme on strengthening the penitentiary system and social crime prevention policies in Mexico as a model for Latin America, Mr. Cesar Oliveros Aparicio, Fiscal Especializado en Delincuencia Organizada of the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) of Mexico @FGRMexico, visited the historic Ucciardone Prison. The visit was organized by UNICRI in cooperation with the Regional Prison Administration of Sicily, represented by Regional Director Maurizio Veneziano. Key highlights 🔹 Exchange of expertise and good practices in penitentiary management and organized crime prevention 🔹 Dialogue on prison governance, rehabilitation and security challenges 🔹 Strengthening cooperation between Mexican and Italian institutions in the field of criminal justice 🔹 Contribution to regional efforts aimed at advancing effective, human-centred and sustainable justice responses ⚖️ International cooperation and knowledge-sharing remain essential to strengthening prison systems, preventing crime and promoting the rule of law.

🇦🇪 🇺🇸 🇺🇳 Strengthening capacities to counter proliferation financing is essential to global peace and security. 🌐 UNICRI, with the support of the United States Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), convened a specialized workshop in Turin on investigating and prosecuting proliferation financing-related offences. The workshop brought together prosecutors, judicial practitioners, customs officers, police officials and CBRN experts from the United Arab Emirates. Key topics addressed 🔹 Proliferation finance risk trends and typologies 🔹 Investigative and prosecutorial challenges linked to PF cases 🔹 Financial intelligence, evidentiary standards and international cooperation 🔹 Scenario-based exercise on sanctions evasion and illicit procurement networks 🙏 UNICRI thanks all participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions.
