I’ve had it a while, I was one of the first few my service center installed and knowing Tesla, I expect the ones they are installing now are not the same. I definitely would still get it, they constantly improve their products.

Update: service reached out saying they cannot handle replacements yet, others are before me that have not yet received it and supply is low. Will take care of it once they have one.

@CyberMikeOG @ShooterMcDadden 100%! Glad to see them stand behind it. I do also understand the backlog, just hope I won’t have to wait a really long time and the one I have continues to work. I actually use it camping when setting up at night (no flashlight needed) and season is coming up soon!

OEM. Service said they are only doing brand new installs due to short supply. I have to wait until everyone gets theirs and then they will come back to get me a replacement.
Guess I’ll get to see how much water and for how long they will continue working. Still functioning as normal.

I find it funny how some Turo guests ignore our pre-trip messages and then dispute our supercharging invoices sent after the trip.
While it’s not required and I could just escalate the invoice to Turo for their approval, I kindly explain to our guests how Tesla supercharging and billing works.

Earlier this week I had a very impressive young man reach out, telling me that he wanted to meet me to be the first guest for his new podcast called @FullSelfFuture. He said he was willing to drive 8 hours in any direction to come meet me (knowing I travel all over the country for work & someday would be close). Luckily for him today it took me just a 10 min detour to go through his hometown of Lexington, KY while I was on my way to Fort Wayne, IN. His name is Koby Pierce (@koby_pierce). He’s just 16 years old & already much much smarter than me talking about self driving, LiDAR, ground truth data. You name it he knows it. I would encourage you all to follow him & his podcast to help get him started! The podcast focuses on autonomous machines especially self-driving cars, humanoid robots, & what’s coming next. Each episode is recorded inside a moving, self-driving Tesla, combining real-world autonomy with high production value. His goal is to help people understand the technical side of autonomous systems in a way that’s engaging, accessible, and grounded in real experiences.

UPDATE:
My co-host took a quick video of the condition of the Tesla after being on a Turo trip for over a month.
This is how some renters will treat your vehicle.
Hopefully this qualifies for the $150 cleaning violation but I doubt Turo will approve it…

UPDATE: It appears the Turo Trust & Safety agent applied some pressure to the guest. The Tesla was JUST returned to us!!! It was still a full day late so additional fees will apply. Plus all the fees for charging and any tolls, damages, or other violations. Hopefully there are no major issues when we closeout the trip. Stay tuned. 🍿

UPDATE: Late last night, Turo’s Trust & Safety representative contacted me back after I relayed my concerns based on the guests response to my request for their phone number. While T&S rep stated at the time that they were messaging with the guest, they made a decision to prevent any further extensions. They have now unlisted my Tesla, asked for the Teslas current location, and stated they will repossess the Tesla. Conveniently, the Tesla is about 5 mins or less from our home location, where we keep all the Teslas and where this guest picked up the Tesla. I’ve offered that information to the T&S rep and stated that we could quickly grab it. Stay tuned. 🍿
