❝It has been my first ever #UPR report writing engagement and I am walking away with a wealth of knowledge and insights from the history of human rights to the intricacies of the UPR process. I have gained a deeper understanding of the mechanisms that shape our work as CSOs. The experts’ valuable insights have shed light on the complexities of SRHR and its intersectionality with other human rights components. I’ve learned how to craft a comprehensive report that not only highlights the challenges but also provides actionable recommendations for duty bearers. I’M SIMPLY EXCITED. The UPR seems complex but it has been simplified with the right expertise in this retreat.❞ ~ Adokey Esther @eadokey , Program Officer - Center for Economic Social Cultural Rights in Africa (@CescraA) 𝑹𝙚𝒇𝙡𝒆𝙘𝒕𝙞𝒐𝙣𝒔 𝒇𝙧𝒐𝙢 𝙥𝒂𝙧𝒕𝙣𝒆𝙧𝒔 𝒐𝙣 𝙩𝒉𝙚 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮’𝘀 𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 (𝗨𝗣𝗥) #UPR4thCycle

📢News just in: Judgment in this matter will be delivered on 24 April 2026 at the Court of Appeal, Malindi. Please update your calendars.🗓️ As joint amici curiae with @fidakenya and @womenslink, we await judgment.

For the past 15 months, three women, including a 69-year-old have been raped and killed in Ruaka, near Banana. These incidents have occurred near the underpass. The first people I will blame are the police in the area. The level of insecurity there is high, but it is something that can be managed. The rate at which drugs and alcohol are abused is also very high. There is a center where almost every shop is a wines and spirits outlet, selling fake alcohol, drugs and illicit brews. These shops operate 24/7 without business permits, and all they do is bribe the police. If you’ve ever consumed fake alcohol, you know how it interferes with brain function. If the police in the area were not corrupt and did their job properly, maybe these women would still be alive. Action needs to be taken. @NPSOfficial_KE @DCI_Kenya @kipmurkomen
