U.S. Mission to the EU

I welcome today’s vote in the European Parliament’s International Trade Committee in favor of implementing the EU’s tariff commitments under the U.S.-EU Joint Statement on Trade. The United States implemented commitments made in the Joint Statement shortly after the agreement was reached between President Trump and President von der Leyen last July. I commend INTA Chairman @berndlange for his leadership of the INTA committee, and INTA members for their positive vote. We now urge a full EP vote as soon as possible along with full agreement among the EU institutions. Let’s seize this positive momentum to deliver stability and opportunity for the largest and most comprehensive trade and investment relationship in history.

Honored to join @AmChamEU Transatlantic dinner where together with Ambassador @AndyPuzder delivered keynote speech. 🇺🇦 is strong ally, has what to propose to our partners. UA won this winter, but damages are huge, preparation for next one started, need private & public support.

I welcome the adoption of the EU–US trade deal in the @EP_Trade. The European Parliament has demonstrated determination, a strong commitment to work, and responsibility at a crucial moment - with the @EPPGroup playing a key role in driving this forward. Always a pleasure to see my friend @odor_balint. With the upcoming election in Hungary and a pending vote on the US/EU trade deal pending, there was much to discuss over lunch. We’ll continue to work closely with Hungary on promoting our mutual interests worldwide!

Had a great time exchanging views on critical energy issues impacting markets with @IOGP_EU board members.  Thanks François-Régis Mouton de Lostalot for hosting these companies who are crucial to deliver the world, and Europe, more reliable, affordable, and secure energy – a key priority for President Trump. We can do this together by a return to common sense energy policy and a focus on energy abundance in the European Union.

A productive and enjoyable meeting with @netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos on the future of the audiovisual sector in Europe. As President Trump has stressed, supporting innovation and creativity is key, but first Europe needs to reduce regulatory barriers to encourage both investment and growth.

Energy is the Economy and @POTUS is on a mission to propel the economy forward. Reading through the mechanics of the EU Methane Regulation leaves me wondering if the EU truly understands how this oppressive economic regulation will stymie -- not support – a competitive economy for Europe. Link to report: iogpeurope.org/projects/the-i… It will raise the cost of energy and present security of supply risk to the EU market. An industry study by Wood Mackenzie shows that 87% of EU imports of crude oil and 43% of EU imports of natural gas will be non-compliant starting on January 1, 2027. EU importers will face penalty risks of up to 20% of their annual global turnover for non-compliant energy. Worse, the brunt of these costs will be borne by European consumers. We ask DG ENER to include the EU methane regulation in the upcoming energy omnibus simplification package to make necessary changes to the primary legislation. We must work together to reduce the cost of energy and enhance energy security for Europeans.
