Mathew 6: 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Losing a Hero is never easy, whether in combat or at home station. SGT Markevian Slacks died as a result of an off-duty traffic accident in Italy. Rest Easy Hero 🇺🇸

In remembrance of my uncle, Greg Ambrose, for sacrificing his life in service to this great country.  Here is his story: Bronze Star AWARDED FOR ACTIONS DURING Vietnam War Service: Army Battalion: 1st Battalion Division: 1st Infantry Division GENERAL ORDERS: CITATION: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V" to Private First Class Gregory Francis Ambrose (ASN: US-52747088), United States Army, for heroism in connection with military operations against a hostile force. On 15 March 1968, Private First Class Ambrose was serving as a rifleman with his company during a search and destroy operation south of Thu Duc. He was with the lead element of the friendly force when they made contact with a reinforced Viet Cong platoon utilizing heavy machine gun, claymore mine and small arms fire. In the initial burst of fire, Private First Class Ambrose dashed to the point of heaviest contact where he provided highly suppressive fire to cover the deployment of the rest of his platoon. With complete disregard for his personal safety, he remained exposed to the heavy enemy fire until he was certain that all his comrades had safely reached cover. It was only then that Private First Class Ambrose himself sought cover. He began to withdraw from his forward position continuing his accurate fire upon the well-entrenched insurgents. It was at this time that he was mortally wounded. The dauntless courage, determined efforts, and deep concern for the welfare of his fellow soldiers exhibited by Private First Class Ambrose undoubtedly saved several friendly lives and contributed significantly to the ultimate defeat of a large Viet Cong force. Private First Class Ambrose's outstanding display of aggressiveness, devotion to duty, and personal bravery is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the 1st Infantry Division and the United States Army.

@MilitaryCooI An age most are still discovering life, yet Robert C. Burke chose to risk his for others. Courage like that is beyond words. Heroes are not measured by age, but by sacrifice. 🇺🇸

Robert C. Burke was only eighteen years old barely stepping into adulthood. While most people his age were thinking about studies, friends, or future plans, he had already joined the U.S. Marine Corps. On May 17, 1968, during Operation Allen Brook in South Vietnam, his unit advanced into a dry riverbed surrounded by dense trees. Without warning, the enemy opened fire-mortars, automatic weapons, and explosions erupted all at once. Within moments, the Marines were trapped in the open, pinned down with wounded soldiers unable to move. Burke quickly understood the situation: if those enemy positions were not suppressed, many of his comrades would not make it out alive. He picked up his machine gun and moved forward alone, pushing directly toward the strongest fire. From exposed ground, he laid down intense suppressive fire into the tree line, creating just enough cover for the wounded to be pulled back. When his weapon jammed, he didn't retreat. He grabbed an M16 rifle and grenades from a fallen Marine and continued advancing, clearing position after position under heavy fire. At one point, he deliberately exposed himself in open terrain to draw enemy attention away from his unit, allowing others to withdraw safely. He kept fighting until he physically could no longer continue. He was just eighteen years old. For his actions, he was awarded the Medal of Honor and became one of the youngest recipients recognized for heroism in the Vietnam W@r.

Honoring the fallen this Memorial Day. Home Free's haunting cover of Vince Gill's "Go Rest High on That Mountain" will give you chills. Watch and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. God bless their memory!

The “sundown” of the AV-8B Harrier II, an iconic aircraft that has supported joint and Marine Corps operations for over 40 years, also represents the dawn of a new era; it paves the way for 2nd MAW’s full transition to the F-35B and C Lightning II. #USMC #SemperFi #MarineAviation

Six years ago today, LCpl Lorenzo Mascarenas took his last breath. Mascarenas enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 2018. He was serving with his unit at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside when he unexpectedly passed away.
