@pwatchug @AnitahAmong In equal measure @pwatchug should look into the Uganda businesses that are chocking with high commercial banks interest rates from which MPs are running to borrow from money lenders. @AnitahAmong should give special attention to access to affordable finance by businesses more.

Speaker @AnitahAmong has threatened to cancel MOUs Parliament signed with some money lenders, over harassing MPs with very high interest rates. "I am going to cancel those MOUs between those money lenders & Parliament, because I can’t afford having MPs every time in court. They must behave," she said.

This is absurd. We urgently need a scrap management regulation/law that oversees all aspects of scrap, these pylons are collected by someone and sold to someone, there has to be traceability for all scrap and even to the export market

@rggoobi Well, with all due honesty, there was no mention of cuts on Corp tax, excise duty or VAT, leave alone DTS costs, PAYE and CGT of any sort. Specifically the ask was on taxes on RAW MATERIALS and IN PUTS for production, it's unprecedented in the face of regional competition.

@rggoobi @mofpedU @GCICUganda @GovUganda @MKarekye @munghinda Long term: Reestablish fuel reserves that can last us 3 - 6 months, prioritize the central corridor alongside our pipeline, prioritize the water routes 4 movement of fuel, incentivise RnD into fuel alternatives such as ethanol, oil seeds such as corn oil leveraged on the PDM.

@kenethayebare86 @rggoobi @mofpedU @GCICUganda @GovUganda @MKarekye @munghinda I can't agree more, but that notwithstanding, is unprecedented to tax raw materials, especially when we operate under a common market without harmonized tax regimes, it just beats our competitiveness. And moreso when we have an extra mile in freight to cover being landlocked.
