🚨 The results from the pay ballot are in. Firefighters and control firefighters have voted to accept the 2026 pay offer. Wholetime, control and RDS firefighters should receive a 3.8% pay increase in their July pay packets.

ASLEF will ballot members on Avanti West Coast for industrial action after the company failed to make an acceptable pay offer.

🔥The Ladybank landfill site fire exposes the danger posed by fire service cuts says union The Fire Brigades Union has warned that the fire at a Fife landfill site, which has burned for six days, perfectly exposes the danger and heightened risks communities will face if yet more firefighter jobs are cut and fire cover is reduced. The fire at the waste processing and landfill centre has been burning for 6 days. At its height 19 fire crews were at the incident. Almost a week later, three appliances remain on site as the site continues to smoulder. Speaking of the incident John McKenzie, Secretary of the Fire Brigades Union in Scotland said, "This fire was hugely resource-intensive, pulling in fire crews from across Fife and Tayside leaving Edinburgh short as an appliance from Tollcross was sent to Dunfermline to cover. The fire comes as the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service considers the outcome of a Service Delivery Review which proposes closing Balmossie station in Dundee and removing a fire appliance and crew from Lochgelly. This follows a previous round of cuts that already caused Methil and Glenrothes to each lose a fire appliance. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has lost 1250 jobs since its creation in 2013. We cannot take any more cuts.
