BREAKING: The gunman who opened fire near the White House on Saturday afternoon has been identified as 21-year-old Nasire Best of Maryland. Secret Service agents shot Best during the incident, and he later died while being transported to the hospital. The shooter allegedly had multiple prior encounters with the Secret Service and a history of mental health issues. He was previously detained on June 26, 2025, for allegedly flagging down agents and making threats, and again on July 10, 2025, for entering a restricted area.
