@garyseconomics Yeah when wealth wasn’t mobile you could do whatever you wanted to the wealthy at that point as most revenue was generated onshore the ftse100 is dominated by companies with the vast majority of revenue coming from offshore. Completely different situation

The Golden Age of Capitalism happened when tax rates were extremely high on the very rich. It's no coincidence.

@scott_seiver @spraggy His leg was taken. Can say he put his leg in the way, but I think that’s what you do if you’re trying to protect the ball. I don’t think it’s blatant but I don’t think it’s clear and obvious error to disallow

@FrankEra_ Just like Lammens if Tuchel plays Mainoo in a Semi Final & Final directly it will be very difficult for him to cope with the intensity of the game, and I am little worried about an Lammens like incident can happen to him as well.

Tuchel would’ve been better off never even picking Mainoo if he was going to treat him like this. Finds every way possible to avoid using him, even though England notoriously struggle to progress through midfield. Should’ve given the kid the summer off.

@DeadEyeP_ @flyundernoflag @garyseconomics How do you service the debt with no income or realising capital? People borrow against assets not to mitigate tax to zero it’s to retain a growing asset whilst servicing the debt through income. You will still be paying tax but just on the additional income required to service it

@bombszelberger @GreenAttackDog Bloke is clearly a plant by some far left ngo. He’s obviously intelligent but he’s hyper specialised in his field and has a rudimentary understanding of tax particularly personal taxation.

Gary Economics has just ruined its credibility and proven that it clearly knows very little about economics. The absolute tax legend @DanNeidle destroyed Gary in his own documentary. The very documentary just a compilation of Gary being proven wrong time and time again about his "solution" to economic inequality. Let me know if you have watched it. The Dan Neidle debate has gotta be one of the best moments in the show!! #garystevenson @Channel4 @garyseconomics

@twistednico What’s worrying is that this was the best edit they could make. There are no doubt even worse elements that destroyed his argument that have been cut

Fair play that Gary spoke to credible contrarians in his doc and didn’t fudge the edit to fit t agenda! Really showed - whilst the ideology means well, wealth tax really isn’t the answer. Another load of populist clap trap founded in Robin Hood pseudo economics 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

@asty909s @_LewisLFC Except it might do that short term but it will cause significant long term harm with capital flight. You’re better off making sure that tech companies pay tax in the country revenue is generated in properly for a long term sustainable revenue that can be redistributed

@_LewisLFC A wealth tax isn’t about raising income it’s about the redistribution of wealth. Which is the single major issue causing the disparity in our economy.

I think his biggest issue is he is incessant on the yearly wealth tax. But the ultra wealthy are insanely rich because of the current economic system, they themselves are a symptom not a cause. Fix the overly supply focused set up, otherwise you’re just skimming off the top and delaying the inevitable. There is a word for this but i can’t remember it 😂
Lewis@_LewisLFC

Gary Stevenson has set us back 30 years pushing his angle with pure rhetoric. Even if his overall goal is right, you can’t posture yourself as an elite economist and then base your entire stance on vague nothingness.

@Collectors_Way @CreativeDeduct It’s quite simple really we haven’t built nearly enough homes due to over regulation and our population has increased massively its supply shock alongside a decade of low interest rates. You either need to make it easier to build or reduce immigration

Like him or hate him, He is correct that a few decades ago, 1 man working a normal job could own his own home and look after his family. You can’t do that now, so why is that? “Immigrants!” What percentage of homes do they own? What percentage do the super wealthy own? 🤔

@chrisman This whole athleticism thing is one of the biggest myths Americans throw around. Look at the Olympic medal totals you under perform compared to countries like the U.K. per capita (uk 1.7x more) but spend 40x more in development costs

U.S. could easily win the world cup in 12 years. We have a huge population of players and we are on average far more athletic than europeans. Just do what europe does — every pro club gets an academy that starts at age 6, coached by former european pros.
Clay Travis@ClayTravis

One big US soccer thought: our youth development has to get more affordable. One of my kids plays travel. It’s at least $5k a year & this isn’t even super high end. We can afford it, thankfully, lots can’t. Youth sports costs in the US are out of control, soccer more than most.

@julianHjessop @JeffreyPeel Remove db pensions from the public sector the contribution rates by the employer (us) are up to 30% of salary and most are unfunded. Increase their pay by 10% and give them a 10% employer contribution into a dc

@JeffreyPeel Are you suggesting we take away current civil service pensioners' entitlements, retrospectively? Or just change the contracts of those still working, without any offset?

Something is fundamentally wrong. Public sector pension pot values are roughly 6x greater than private sector pots in the UK. This is the great taking. Your money is funding their retirements.
