I loved Carter as a kid but he had one great year (85), one solid year (86) and three bad years here. This would be like retiring cespedes' number if they had won it in 2015. That said I'm not necessarily opposed but these glasses are seriously rose colored

If you believe that @GaryCarterKid number should be retired, please feel free to add this to your Twitter profile.

@DadOf2Pugs @The7Line You must be senile, his number is literally hanging from the rafters.
English

@The7Line People under 40 have never seen an all-around catcher as good as Gary Carter.
English

To all those people saying "it's really not a big deal" about the Mets giving out number 8. That's foolish. It's not a big deal to YOU, but history is important.
No idea why the number hasn't been officially hung for Gary Carter. The team wore a patch, and had the same logo on the outfield wall for more than a few seasons.
We hoped it would have been a surprise number retirement during this years 40 year anniversary ceremony of the 1986 champs. That's probably not happening now. If it is, that was a huge blunder yesterday.
Anyway... the team took it back and Morabito will rock 55 going forward.
English

Bummed to see number 8 go back into the rotation. It was unofficially retired for decades. Should’ve kept it that way. Even if Gary “Kid” Carter was never going to officially have his # retired, it was nice that nobody else was wearing it. Didn’t need to be in the rafters to still be special to a lot of fans, and of course to the Carter family.

@_leeescobedo Can we also talk about the Alan Houston supermax? Like what?? Bing bongers don't know what it really feels like to be down this bad lmao.

Need every Knicks fan to answer this honestly:
What trade did the most psychological damage to this franchise?
😭 Eddy Curry
😭 Andrea Bargnani
😭 Trading KP
😭 JR & Shump to Cleveland
😭 Antonio McDyess
😭 Something even worse
Because before Brunson… before the ECF… before this team finally became functional…
the Knicks spent 20 years operating like a sleep deprivation experiment conducted inside Madison Square Garden.
We traded:
• lottery picks for disasters
• productive players for cap space fantasies
• young talent for washed names
• our dignity for absolutely nothing
I wrote about the 5 trades that built the Knicks’ dark ages and somehow every section gets more cursed than the last.

@_leeescobedo Bargnani. Knicks the season before were decent, lost to the heat and I was ready for them to take the next step, but my god they gave up SO MUCH for him and he was SO BAD and that pick turned into Jamal Murray. Fucking phantom ass 3 point shot..

@YungGiamatti I bring my own dogs, get hot water from the coffee shop and boil them at my seat at Citi. Highly recommended
English

@JonFromMaspeth You can tell this is Jon From Maspeth bullshit because he lumped Nimmo and Alonso together because they're white. Meanwhile, Alonso's politics closely resembles Lindor's. Stop thinking about the Mets.
English

@AdamWhitcroft Tissot PRX automatic. Perfect starter watch and then you can go up from there
English

@GovSherrillNJ Maybe the stadium that is also profiting heavily from this event should bear some of the ride??? Just a thought
English

We inherited an agreement where FIFA is providing $0 for transportation to the World Cup.
And while NJ TRANSIT is stuck with a $48 million bill to safely get fans to and from games, FIFA is making $11 billion.
I’m not going to stick New Jersey commuters with that tab for years to come.
FIFA should pay for the rides. But if they don’t – I’m not going to let New Jersey get taken for one.
English

@sidrosenberg19 @CGasparino Good, we don't need racist pieces of shit like you rooting for the orange and blue, you'll fit right in in the bronx.
English

I’ll be 59 on Sunday:) For the first time ever I’m sporting a Yankee jersey as I make my way to the Bronx. The official transition from a life long Met fan to a Yankee fan is now underway. Like my friend @CGasparino once wrote “Go Woke, Go Broke!” The Mamdani Mets are too WOKE for me! See ya at the Stadium soon fans!

@heat_bender This is possibly the most polite explanation as to why someone wouldn't want a company at their event I think I've ever read. Be better, he even offered to meet 1 on 1 instead. Not befitting a YC founder imo.

Running a company:
2020: can you survive a pandemic?
2021: still here? we’re going to give all of your competitors $100m series A rounds.
2022: wow, you made it? okay, all engineers cost $600,000/year now.
2023: nice job! okay, SVB failed and we’re going to take away your bank account.
2024: a survivor I see. but can you pivot from ai to crypto to defense tech back to ai-enabled defense tech in a 12 month period to stay relevant?
2025: unfortunately all of your competitors have raised $2b series B rounds. oh and only 500 engineers are relevant and they cost $100m/yr each.
2026: well, well, well. you’re still in business? let’s deploy the thunderclap of godlike LLMs from the heavens so all of your customers can rebuild your app in 2 hours. can you survive?
