@ValeriTrombley @GamewithDave Similar to me, but I've kept my Mac offline for over ten years, because I don't want the 'mother ship' for these useful softwares to tamper with them. I should also put the date back 20 years on it, in case there are pre-scheduled impairments. I know their tricks.

They removed CD/DVD drives from devices. They made physical media harder to buy and use. They removed expandable storage from phones. They pushed us into streaming subscriptions. They made always-online normal. They made unlimited internet necessary. Then slowly raised the price of everything. Ownership quietly became renting.

@mysteriouskat What about the one old adage “buyer beware”? You cannot police speech that way. Like every human interaction would be subject to law. 😂 Now contracts and what not and legally binding things and all that are already subject to this. But how can you regulate human behavior?

We should make it illegal for people to lie.

@wil_da_beast630 I always tried to have a balance with my children. They are not me. Fit in with family and society on the major stuff, but let their freak flags fly as well.

They got whipped if they didn't. You can like physical discipline or not, but - thinking back even to sports team and college hazing - most humans "obey the head of the House/local lord" just fine. Nothing really too wrong with that.

If you're story is just " a little weird", that is not going to work You're going to have to make it so extreme and so absurd, that the joke becomes so ultra loud and weird that there's nothing more exaggerated that could possibly be said about it Never do anything halfway

Twitter needs a Gen X section where nobody gets their feelings hurt except your mom.

@jbeam123 We did this every weekend at the lake. Lots of work, but worth it.

When you live by principle, not perception, you will become damn near impossible to manipulate.

What a lot of trans activists never understood is that most people genuinely did not care how adults chose to live their lives. The backlash came when it stopped being about “live and let live” and turned into demanding that everyone adopt new language, new definitions, and new beliefs under threat of being shamed, fired, or canceled. A lot of people drew the line at being told they had to say things they fundamentally do not believe like “men can have babies” or that biological sex is meaningless and if they questioned any of it, they were immediately labeled hateful or bigoted. That kind of social pressure and moral policing is what pushed people to where we are today.

If you're a Midwesterner, you know this makes perfect sense.

I fear a world in which no one has to earn anything and everyone is just given everything would just create a bunch of lazy, entitled brats. If you think this would be a good world, you’re already a lazy entitled brat.

I’m Gen X. I hate to say this, but I was like this, preteen to hate to admit into some of my adulthood. I think this is like a drama queen, mostly feminine thing. I actually got really sick with psoriatic arthritis. I was kinda disabled for a while. I’m fine now aside from a few stuck joints. But it snapped me out of it. Like I just want to be better and normal. I’ll never complain again.

Like 60% of this is just all up-middle class kids diagnosing themselves as Special Victims, tho. "You may be a Black bro, which is one point, but I am a female feminist (2), queer (3)(5), disabled (4)(9) disability activist. I am NOT just a white girl from Cleveland!!! Never again!!!

We, Gen Xers often talk about being ignored. It just occurred to me we’ve always been ignored. It’s not a new thing.
