@GrantCardone The power to tax includes the power to destroy. If you have a right to own property, but the state can tax it, the state can destroy that right. If they raise the tax high enough, you are forced to sell it. Property taxes turn the right to own property into a privilege.

I urge Seattle DSA members to attend the Saturday convention and vote in support of our campaign for Congress. Our campaign is fighting to end all U.S. military aid to Israel, to shut down ICE, and to win free healthcare for all funded by taxing the rich. Unfortunately, this horrific post I'm quoting could not go without a response. This DSA member is referring to the murder of Leon Trotsky by one of Stalin's agents. Trotsky and Lenin were two of the indispensable leaders of the 1917 Russian Revolution, the most progressive event in modern human history. It's a sad commentary on the current state of the left that 45 people have clicked like on the post by this DSA member. I urge DSA leadership to disavow it. Regarding this person's accusation, it is my responsibility as a socialist to raise criticisms of self-identified socialists like AOC and Mamdani when they betray working people. @9mmballpoint Feel like Castro would be a better comparison than Lenin - he died 6 years after the revolution anyway. He did cancel the results of the constitutional assembly elections after the bolsheviks got a shitty result though.

He made NEP, conduced peace with the germans, purged worker's opposition, etc.
The whole thing of beign a revolutionary is kinda the opposite of beign principled, is much more about get things done.
