@Circa7T7 @ryanhallyall No pictures of the aurora exist before 2010? Of course they do. And I bet 100% of them were not taken on the camera in everyone’s pocket in 2025. Such a small fraction of the population had DSLRs. Everyone has iPhones.

@W3MSB @ryanhallyall 12 mp cameras are capable of capturing them. Standard DSLR/mirrorless/4/3s etc cameras are also. Yet seemingly no one took pictures or even talked about it. Weird

🚨 A massive solar storm just hit Earth. The first CME (coronal mass ejection) slammed into our magnetic field with extreme intensity. Auroras are being seen as far south as Missouri and Pennsylvania right now… and the main event is still coming tomorrow.

@Circa7T7 @ryanhallyall Yes. Nobody had iPhones with computational photography in them. Remember, hardly anyone is seeing them with their naked eye. It’s all thanks to long exposure and computational photography

I got on x to say just this. During the last active solar cycle, iPhones didn't exist. Now everyone has a camera capable of long exposure and computational photography. All we had back then was our naked eyes and Myspace. To me, this gives "If a tree falls in the forest..."

Nice to see the new @ChickfilA @jamescrummel but what happened to camping out for the grand opening? I did in Wilkes Barre Oct 2019. Talk about cold, it was in the 30s with a nor’easter but the year of free chicken was worth the sideways rain.
