But I don’t think it should be written off automatically. Under the Glazers, we signed these type of players and asked them to carry the team. Under those circumstances, the signings are doomed beforehand. But Kvaratschelia was Man City’s top LW target last season before they had to move down the list to settle for Doku and Omar Berrada was certainly involved in those discussions. He is a very good player who fits perfectly in how we want to play. In addition, as Ratcliffe talked about, Manchester United should always have some glamour, some swagger. KK isn’t comparable to Cantona in any way — but he has drawn comparisons to George Best regardless of any connection to MUFC. ⚽️ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲? He is a fantastic dribbler, the ball is glued to his foot, he can just float through heavy traffic with it. He is also very strong on the ball, ie not the type who will try a fancy ‘move’ and either it works and he skips past his guy or lose the ball, he is very hard to get off the ball. In addition to this, he strikes the ball really well and is a great finisher both from in close and from quite long distance. He is also a very good playmaker, and has definitely to a significant extent been behind the success Oshimen have had for Napoli. He is strong physically, and definitely no midget at 6’1 even if he looks a bit shorter because he got such a low center of gravity. ⚽️ 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 — 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝗴 𝗷𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆? He can play across the forward line, but he is definitely the most natural at LW. There are reports on how ETH sees Garnacho as a No 10 for the future. Even if he eventually ends up on the wing, I think propping him for the No 10 position and giving him playing time would be monumental for his development. But Rashford is still here (in all likelihood)? The thing is — I don’t think that should be an issue. 8 games will be played in the group stage of the EL next season just like in the new CL. If we count on 8 games with the national teams that becomes 38+8+8=54 games. Add in a total of another 8 games in domestic cups and/or play-off games in Europe and you are up to 62 games per season. You must have at least 15-16 quality players, can’t be 11 starters and 11 back-ups. And when it comes to a player like Rashford that perhaps is struggling a bit with expectations and pressure — my experience is that nothing helps more than competition. Like if two players are competing for one position, it’s very obvious what you must do to play. Ie you must do what the other guy is doing and a bit more. If your rival tracks back, you must track back. I’ve never heard of a player who crumbles under the pressure of competing with a rival for playing time. But the same pressure from the manager/pundits can so often be suffocating. There is easily enough games to go around for the top 4 candidates for 5 forward spots. ⚽️ 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗡𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗶𝗺? 𝗜𝘀 𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲? Napoli won’t want to sell him and even if they did, he would have many suitors. But you never know, he hasn’t signed a new deal yet. Napoli is struggling a lot and will have to build a new team. Would definitely not be surprising if someone like KK forces his way out. ⚽️𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝗺? From my POV, it depends on what we can do elsewhere. We should add an elite CB. But I want at least another really important player higher up the pitch, someone that can be/become top 5 in the world in his position. Simply someone that genuinely can come in and relieve the rest of some pressure and be a go to player on the pitch. That could be a FDJ. It could be KK. Could it be Olise? Osumane Dembele? Felix?
