It is with a heavy heart that I write this. I have just learned of the passing of Stanley Batten. You may remember I asked people for financial help towards a last holiday then Birthday cards for his Birthday. I have been asked by the family to thank you again for your generosity and those of you that sent cards, thank you so much. I am sure you will join me in wishing sincere condolences to his family. RIP Stanley.

Hard to believe the Waitrose story re the shoplifters. Another PR own goal after the poor lad not given a contract after working for free for some time. He was later given a contract, of course. We used to chase shoplifters over car parks and in to the nearby terraced streets.

@ConstableChaos There's a small @Waitrose in my home town and I didn't use it much, but that's now the end to it. I'm not paying a company who I know sack loyal and responsible men for standing up to the badness of the world.

I’ve been following a case from four years ago where a young woman was sexually assaulted in her hotel room after a man gained access by pretending to be her boyfriend. At the time, the reported response from the CEO of Travelodge was to say: “You should have deadbolted the door.” Let that sink in. Now, four years later, the CEO has finally come forward publicly — apologising and admitting the situation was not handled properly. But the question has to be asked… why now? Why did it take years, public pressure, and significant media attention for that acknowledgment to happen? Where was the empathy at the time? Where was the accountability when it actually mattered? It should never take bad press for the right thing to be done. This young woman was in a locked hotel room — somewhere she had every right to feel safe. The responsibility lies with the systems that failed her, not with her. We have to stop this culture of shifting blame onto victims and start demanding better protections and proper accountability. Because for me, trust matters. And right now, I wouldn’t choose to stay in a Travelodge. Women and girls deserve to feel safe — everywhere.

9 years. 9 years since we were heading towards the end of early turn and heard the most horrendous news. 9 years since the best of us was murdered upholding their oath. 9 years, remembered every single day since. 9 years, since we lost PC Keith Palmer GM. 🫡 #ThinBlueLine 🚨

In a little over 24 hours time former colleagues and friends will gather in silence outside Parliament to remember Metropolitan Police Constable Keith Palmer GM (George Medal posthumously). PC Palmer, whilst unarmed tackled a knifeman attempting to carry out a terrorist attack within the grounds of the British Parliament on the 22nd March 2017. His actions allowed other officers to confront and shoot dead his attacker but not before PC Palmer had received a fatal stab wound. Pictured; 1. Floral tributes laid by the public opposite the site of Keith's murder. 2. The Memorial to Keith outside the gates of the Palace of Westminster. 3. Book of remembrance for fallen officers The Mall, London. 4. Chief Inspector (Supt) Wynne City of London police laying a wreath for Keith handed to him by family members of knife crime victims. A touching display of respect between a man and his fallen colleague. Two men who likely never met but unbreakably joined in a shared duty to each other and to us. A fleeting moment in time as many passed without notice as busy London life moved on. An image I was deeply moved by and am proud to have paused and witnessed. Thank you to all our police who day in day out face such threats on our behalf. @ButternutBox very disappointed again that your delivery via DPD was dumped upside down outside our front door. I watched the driver do this, she made no attempt to ring the doorbell. #cowboys
