@ElizabethBangs @DeborahMeaden Starmer appears moderately right. Pensions and benefits changes are just minor around the edges, meanwhile he does little to nothing to stop wealth/asset stripping. Our public services are allowed to rot away, just as they were under conservatives. Make Labour left again.

Elizabeth Bangs -No accountability? No democracy.
Apparently, Starmer's too left and not left enough, manipulated by Israel and Muslims, too generous with pensions/welfare and evil killer of the old/everyone on benefits. Truth is, he holds none of the extreme binary positions beloved of idiots. He proceeds leftish, with care.

@JoshuaNewton Thanks for the heads up. I boycott everything Dyson, so now I know to check strawberries before I buy.

@twattwattering @KirstieMAllsopp Charge the people that need this 100x normal ticket price. Most people on trains don’t need it or the added stress of being subjected to loud/yelly calls/Teams meetings.

@KirstieMAllsopp This should be a referendum commitment. Enforce 95% coverage of 100mb/s connection on rail networks.

I’m aware I tweet this all the time but it’s probably because I’m on trains all the time PLEASE, please, please spend some of the HS2 money on connectivity/wifi/starlink/whatever it bloody well takes so that it is possible to access modern work tools while on a train 🙏

@TragedyCalls @KirstieMAllsopp Absolutely agree. I think if people can’t live without internet on a standard train or flight, they should be forced to directly pay off everyone else’s fare if a call/Teams meeting must happen. Work remotely or take a private jet if you’re that important.

@KirstieMAllsopp Please don't. We don't want insufferable people having their Teams meetings while we are trying to rest and enjoy the scenery.

@S1OPP @KirstieMAllsopp Same with flights. I do not want to be subjected to self-important people tippy tapping away on laptops or yelling down the mic on Teams meetings. The corporate speak I overhear at restaurants/lounges in airports is bad enough, please let me have peace on the journey itself.

@KirstieMAllsopp I would pay extra for a train to block all internet connectivity for the entire duration of the trip. I do not wish to share your workspace

@ramenatteryan @youfibre_status @youfibre Bad news…our main backhaul is down, and the other one is congested. Working with the provider to fix it. We are deploying a new backhaul with more capacity…so bear with us.

@implausibleblog @Tobeech I disagree. Put a max ticket price of £40 on Eurostar tickets (maybe £80 for a MUCH improved 1st class), run more frequent services and shorten the queues at St Pancras.

Eurostar signs off direct London-Switzerland trains. From 2030: St Pancras to Zurich in around 6 hours, no changes required.

@Tobeech Why? Eurostar should focus on fast (<2hr) and cheap (£40 price cap) train journeys to neighbouring countries (Netherlands, Belgium, France, Luxembourg). Passengers can then make connections to other trains if required. Pointless trying to compete with flying beyond that.

@Justjsl1 @GarethNotGarth It should all just be factored into the sticker price, then ultimately the final negotiated amount for the car. Not itemised separately as if it’s some sort of inconvenience for them - it’s a cost of doing business. What’s next, do they want to put another fee on for rent?

@GarethNotGarth That £200 admin thing fucks me off. They have to do it by law as they are the owners of the car and it’s their responsibility to update the dvla

“Right, so the car is available but we’re gonna stick £200 on the price for no reason, and then we’ll be generous and give you £500 off because we’re a great bunch of lads.” Who the hell ever heard of an admin fee to buy a car?! Parasites.

@oliverking1991 @1viysy @GarethNotGarth Even if the customer is just paying upfront from a bank account? That seems really off to me. Dealers should just factor cost of business into their profit margins. Like businesses have always done.

@1viysy @GarethNotGarth An admin fee for a customer using external finance is common and fair. The dealer quite often has to do a lot more admin.

@1stKaffa @GarethNotGarth I didn’t think businesses were allowed to make charges for debit card payments any more? Besides, dealing with cash has its own associated costs as well.

@GarethNotGarth Hey Gareth, I have asked that a while back; apparently for card payments there's a fee the bank charges them or the card issuer can't remember, so they put this on the buyer.

@D_S_Burchell @PolitlcsUK A 10:1 wage ratio is still very much supportive of capitalism. Instead of a pay cap, It just means that bosses must ensure a rising tide does actually lift all boats. Like we’ve all been promised it will( for many decades/generations now. Yet the opposite is proven true.

@PolitlcsUK That’s because 65% of the Brits “surveyed” are never going to experience that opportunity. The whole concept is against the basis of capitalism. Self imposed restriction would be fine and would probably be positive towards the company.
