Electrify everything, decarbonise the grid. Recreationalist. Outdoors. Transport future. Infrastructure development. Other things as they strike my fancy.

Dolph Lundgren arrived at Wesley College Sydney Uni at the beginning of 1981. Already had a PhD in Chemistry, from Stockholm Uni, I think. Had a black belt in karate. We tried to get him interested in playing for the Wesley rugby team - to no avail. I found him nice, but dull.
Paul Smallwood@SoutherlyBusker

@julerin8 @Peter_Fitz Yes, he attained a Master of Chemistry at Syd Uni. He later got involved in a punch up with Sylvester Stallone.

I’m meeting Kate’s parents for the first time. Do you think they’ll like me? I’m flying 17 hrs. She’s from Australia and international travel increases aging. But I really love her so it’s worth the cost.

@StevoMedia If I achieve nothing else as a parent it will be deemed a success if my children don’t use the term ‘verse’ unless referring to a passage of text. This is a hill I will die on.

@taipan168 It’s also an example of why obsessing about BCRs is missing the point. It is a selection tool not an exact science ….and why twats who wank on about the ‘sunk cost fallacy’ without really knowing what it is are, well, twats

Correct. The Sydney Opera House is by far the best building in the whole of Australia, with daylight second.

Nobody saw this punk rock band with a spin master coming, no body was ready for what was going to happen. Nothing was like this before and nothing was like this since. If there were smart phones then, they would be fully charged after this energy burst… It was a bit like this:

@Lady_FanAccount Bet Spicks and Specks wished they never had the ‘what song does the flute in “Down Under” come from?’question.

The iconic flute riff of "Down Under" (played by Greg Ham) turned out to be one of the biggest controversies in Australian music history. In 2010, Larrikin Music sued Men At Work on the grounds that they were a literal copy of the children's song "Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree" (1932). The band lost the process and had to pay 5% retroactive royalties from all sales and executions since 1981.

For the hardy souls that descend on foot from Ben Macdui to the Lairig Ghru, it is a 30 minute study in careful foot placement and jars to the joints. Yesterday for Blair Aitken it was little more than a 2 minute descent on beautiful spring snow. 📷 Blair Aitken british-backcountry.co.uk/ski-touring

This charts the comparison in costs between EV's and popular ICE vehicles per km. Based on the average rate of fuel consumption from the ABS, you are paying ~6.4c per km just on excise tax and GST on the excise. ICE drivers continue to contribute far more for the roads.

It is bad & looks very sad in there. And ofc metro has reduced footfall. But the pandemic hammered North Sydney far worse than CBD - absolutely exacerbated by council’s dilatory approach & objection to almost all development I’d put them into admin for this & the pool. A shower
Sydney YIMBY@SydneyYIMBY

Simple solution to this: build more homes in North Sydney’s CBD. But Council doesn’t want to do it because commercial pays higher rates than residential.

@fictillius @disfknguy @astacopsis Yes - we had a dedicated 15 amp socket installed. Haven’t ever used a commercial charger three years in. Probably 90%+ free from the sun.

@disfknguy @astacopsis A lot cheaper and more convenient than charging at a DC fast charger. We are talking a couple of hundred bucks to install a dedicated GPO with an RCBO.

@WasonJulian @disco___cat Most trades or rural, I’d presume. Those vehicles tend to be diesel. Diesel fuel efficiency would also explain some of it.

I would ask city people consider what choice rural people have when daily commute is 40k both ways. There is no public transport. Can they understand the fear people have of no fuel. Can they understand hoarding? I buy bulk fuel so it doesn’t affect me but many workers don’t

These pricks with EV's are as bad as fucking vegans. Seriously, enjoy your little victory now. Don't whinge to us when the thing has fuck all resale in ten years because of the battery just shut the fuck up!
Chris Meder@EVCurveFuturist

They mocked EV range anxiety… now petrol cars have fuel anxiety. In Oz, 1000+ stations ran dry—not from shortage, but panic.😬⛽️ The real risk? A system that collapses when people get nervous. Electrons don’t queue. They just flow. ⚡🔋#Bettrification carexpert.com.au/car-news/panic…

@richies256 @theoztrucker I wouldn’t go near a Toyota for EV. For ICE, sure, some of the most consistently reliable products in the world. Toyota (and the Japanese manufacturers in general) in EV seem to have poor charging speeds, poor efficiency, poor systems, when compared with the competition.
