Wake up call! Our @WeHeartDirector woke up to over a dozen officers on his property with loaded guns looking for a suspect who broke in to an apartment, breaking a domestic violence order, and on PCP and Fentanyl. The man is a known bully in the area often using illegal drugs on residential property and harassing security and social workers. I can’t say it enough … we have a drug crisis far worse than anything else. This man is housed.

Sustainable outcomes for a once mountain man (and Veteran) living in a makeshift cabin in the cliffs of Magnolia here in Seattle. We are private funded because it works that way. 👇🏼 We pick up trash and save lives. 👇🏼 “Hello Friends I want to reintroduce you to James. Some of you may have met him when he lived near the Elliot Bay Marina in the Magnolia trail park. He helped us clean up a camp that had been there for ten years, he himself had a cabin he built and lived there for about 4 years. I have been working with him for about a year now. James is a Navy veteran and qualifies for Veteran housing programs. Unfortunately James had fallen afoul with the criminal justice system and spent the last six months as a ward of the state and to be honest this may have been the turning point James needed. During his stay he able to receive the mental health treatment and help that he needed. We cleaned up his camp with the help of the men and women from @BattleEndsHere and paid for his storage and kept in contact with him. We worked with his attorney on a release plan and found transitional housing for him when he got out. He is now really focused on getting into long term housing through his veteran benefits and eventually employment. Boots on the Ground building trust through trash picks and outreach is our model. Timothy Emerson has been hyper focused on a camp with an impending sweep on the mountain to view bike trail off Rainier Ave. Yesterday at 10:00am Nate joined us for the pick and by 10:00am today he’s at Skagit going into medical detox for Fentanyl use. Nate’s journey is only just beginning but we will be there for him every step of the way offering aftercare, recovery housing and resources to reach self-sufficiency. I support camp resolutions aka sweeps because it gives people like Nate a chance to move past a stage of ambivalence to asking for the support he needs. @MayorofSeattle @KingCoRHA @KCPubHealth @GovBobFerguson Outreach with a focus on drug user intervention is our specialty. It's been a super great Easter, I got to help 1 young lady Into treatment and another calling grateful for the opportunity to get clean. At times it's a challenge to work with folks that have substance abuse issues but it's extremely rewarding for the ones that do well. Getting clean is a solid pathway to a stable life. @weheartseattle @weheartfounder

***💚Grandma Magic💚*** Many of you know that feeling of going to your grandmother’s house to that room she always had ready for you. That reality came true for young Jazmine yesterday after battling years on the streets of Seattle. In November of 2022, Tim and I met Jazmine in the NW Queen Anne Greenbelt where she was battered from head to toe living in this tent. She’s been on the run for years, addicted to drugs, and trying to escape codependent relationships. Over the years she’s moved around various camps, low barrier hotels and shelters, and hospitalized multiples times from broken bones and even the ICU. Jazmine finally had the strength to remain clean and sober for a few months and who did she call? She called Tim, as she always had when things got better or worse in her life. Turns out Grandma Georgia needs a care taker, and so does Jazmine. What a match. WHS has been providing services to Jazmine over the years adopting her like a little sister. She’s interviewed with KUOW about the criticisms of housing first but shocking, they didn’t use Jazmine’s compelling testimony. Jazmine is a truth teller and bonded with us early on. She’s never lost her life line to reach us and that’s the phone Tim bought her. As Tim and her walked away once and for all from her drug den housing they said “we will save a bed for you just in case you change your mind “…. cringe. Family Unification is the best outcome for people exiting the streets. Our loved ones need each other and this is a beautiful example of when you are clean and sober and ready, often there are open arms waiting. Bear Bear the traveling dog also had a nice bed waiting at Grandma's too. We 💚 you Jazmine! Thank you @WeHeartDirector for literally going the extra mile and driving her home to Idaho Falls. The clean ups save lives and build trust. It’s a working model of gaining respectful access to those suffering. Many of the volunteers probably remember cleaning her camp up in Feb. 2023 seen in the time warp vid.

What does @WeHeartDirector do on his day off? Tim walks around and saves lives. Today near @UW on the steps of a church where @PhraMedia operates to hand out crack pipes and fentanyl foil (funded by your tax dollars) laid a man under a tarp. His pants soiled, gurgling vomit, and bleeding limbs. Thankfully Tim was there to call 9-1-1 and @SeattleFire responded immediately. The man didn’t want Tim to call but he did anyway. Other homeless were thankful and said “Kevin” has housing. Treatment first, then housing is a more humane order. @Wake_upWA

This morning, while in church, I received a message from Tim at We Heart Seattle. He found a young girl under a tarp, sleeping on a pallet in the woods off Rainier Ave. He asked if we could respond and help get her somewhere safe. We were there shortly after. I promise, God just places you where you're supposed to be. This young girl was scared and clearly vulnerable all alone. Good News, She accepted our help. We packed up her things, which wasn’t much, got her into the car, and drove her to a safe place for the evening. Tomorrow, we will dive deeper into her story and learn how to better help her through to the other side of what brought her to homelessness. First, we need to get her warm and fed.
