I am grateful for the completely different experiences I had after injuring my leg and being forced to use crutches. I appreciate the kindness of the people around me when walking around town or riding the train. I am also grateful for all the encouraging words from everyone.

Japanese gardens are not only an integral part of Japanese culture, but also a civilized mechanism for cherishing tranquility, and calming the mind. If you ever feel lost in life or your heart is weary, try taking a stroll through a Japanese garden. You might find healing there.

As I spend the weekend packing my office and contemplating my lives, old and new, I wanted to share the poetry and wisdom of my great old friend, Frank Mitros, who inscribed this text for me upon his retirement in 2012 (1/4)

I wish this journey had ended differently and that I had matched, but it wasn’t meant to be this time. Still, the interview season was a truly meaningful and positive experience for me, and I’m grateful for everything. Some memories from the Second Look at Mayo Clinic Rochester.
