@joansview @neontaster Are you of the opinion that rapists shouldn’t face any consequences for their actions, and should be free to rape whoever they want?

The fact that this woman doesn't even consider the possibility that putting her rapists in prison will prevent them from raping other women is pretty wild.

A few years ago, in the middle of my doctorate and writing a dissertation about rape, I was violently raped by a group of men. For @thenation, I wrote about how that experience does and doesn't align with my desire for the abolition of prisons and police. thenation.com/article/archiv…

@DrAPearson @a_newsman “Weapons of war” is a meaningless rhetorical term that can be reformatted to fit whatever you want to ban at any given point. Dems certainly do own guns, and they’re trying to make sure nobody else in the future can own the ones they do.

@a_newsman Democrats own guns. Democrats believe in the 2nd amendment. It's just that we want there to be restrictions on the process of getting guns, or the number of weapons of war you can own. I don't understand how we got to the point where we think Dems don't own guns

MSNBC is live defending the second amendment and the conservatives on twitter are explaining that the existence of a firearm in an interaction with a federal agent is a justifiable death sentence. I’m beginning to feel like no one actually believes anything

@dieselclipz Teachers aren’t paid by ‘the market’ the way sales jobs are. They’re paid by public budgets. Nurses pay is shaped by hospital systems. policy + institutions matter.

people say “women aren’t paid less, they just pick empathy careers.” ok… but who decided nursing and teaching are worth less? like we’ll pay a sales guy 150k to move numbers around, but pay a nurse pennies to literally keep people alive, or give a teacher crumbs and wonder why future generations are failing every test. it’s not that empathy based work is less valuable it’s that we’ve normalized underpaying it because it’s “women’s work.”

It is extremely funny contrasting the different reactions on this CNN show When this kid says Donald Trump was “provably” part of a sex trafficking ring, there’s dead silence except from Scott Jennings. But when Scott makes factual statements, Abby & the panel absolutely lose it

Someone got the call… I’m not sure if that smug retraction is gonna hold up in court, kid, but you just might find out 🤷‍♂️

@33_boogie @ChrisCuomo Not exactly. Breaking into the capitol looking for politicians to murder and to stop an election is about as egregious of an offense to law and order as it gets. Trump let all those people go free. One can't possibly have a respect for law and order and support that.

@yuhline It would lift everyone over the current threshold of the poverty line *right now*. After that were to occur, the current poverty line would no longer apply due to inflationary pressures driving costs up due to having greater numbers of people bidding on the same number of goods.

Five random White guys eating lunch in Minnesota get reported as “undercover ICE agents” to an anti-ICE Signal chat by the restaurant’s owner and the next thing they know a mob has showed up to accost them. And because Minneapolis has a “no cooperation with ICE policy” the local police are avoiding situations like this altogether- leaving regular citizens to fend for themselves and deal with these psychotic gangs of social justice warriors.

Alpha News@AlphaNews

EXCLUSIVE: Tech workers say they were mistaken for ICE agents, accosted by anti-ICE mob What began as a casual lunch between five Twin Cities software engineers quickly escalated into a frightening encounter after the men were misidentified as undercover federal agents and protesters were alerted to the Minneapolis restaurant where they were dining. Alpha News obtained video and spoke with one of the men, Lee, a software engineer from Plymouth, who described how the situation unfolded. Lee said the group was eating lunch at Clancy’s Deli, near 38th Street and Grand Avenue South, when one of the men — who belongs to an anti-ICE Signal chat — received a message from a group labeled “SW Minneapolis Rapid Response” claiming that plainclothes ICE agents were dining at the restaurant. “My friend was shocked,” Lee said. “He’s on the [anti-ICE] side politically. He lives nearby. He’s eaten there before. And suddenly he’s seeing messages saying we’re ICE.” The software engineers — all white males dressed casually in sweatshirts and jackets — were soon confronted by protesters who surrounded the restaurant, shouting insults and blowing whistles in their ears as they attempted to leave, according to Lee. Lee emphasized to Alpha News that the group’s political views were mixed, but said the encounter left some of them reconsidering their positions. “One of us is pro-ICE, one anti-ICE, others on the fence,” he said. “After this, I think some of them are rethinking everything.”

At some point when reviewing plays, the league should consider adding a speed threshold for anything involving the element of time. When you slow plays down to 1/100th the speed, it distorts what actually happened and makes it look like, in this case, Cooks possessed the ball for seconds prior to losing it. The game is not played in slow motion or frame by frame. For a catch: A) Secure control of the ball ✅ B) Two feet down in bounds ✅ C) After (a) and (b) have been fulfilled, clearly performs any act common to the game (e.g., extend the ball forward, take an additional step, tuck the ball away and turn upfield, or avoid or ward off an opponent), or he maintains control of the ball long enough to do so. C is where there is a judgement needed since A and B are clearly met. Now consider this note to the rule: If a player, who satisfied (a) and (b), but has not satisfied (c), contacts the ground and loses control of the ball, it is an incomplete pass if the ball hits the ground before he regains control, or if he regains control out of bounds. Because Cooks did lose control of the ball when he contacted the ground and the ball never contacted the ground, it was ruled an interception by Denver.

@homosexualmouse Men tend to rely much less on external validation to reinforce their choices. If the choice is bad, it’ll be self evident, while women tend to place more value in grading the choice based on how others perceive it

@SeanTrende He did not possess it through the ground. It's a pretty clear rule. Just landing with the ball isn't a catch. He has to possess it. He didn't. At most it should've been ruled an incomplete pass but even then it's fourth and 10.
