This afternoon, The King and Queen hosted a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. Their Majesties were joined by The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. ☕️ Over the course of each year, over 30,000 guests are invited to attend a Garden Party, usually in recognition of public service, and are nominated by organisations including the Armed Forces, the NHS and a wide range of charities.

Queen Camilla has met a group of life-saving hounds who have been trained to sniff out disease and illness. Praising the work of @MedDetectDogs she dismissed ‘the sceptics’ telling guests - incl the Pcss of Wales’ brother James Middleton - that ‘nature will always lead the way’

🎈🎉 RAF veteran Betty Joy Welch has celebrated her 105th birthday surrounded by family, friends and carers in Seaton. Betty served as a telephonist in the RAF during the Second World War and is believed to be one of the last surviving RAF veterans from her generation. More than 80 years on from her service, Betty is still enjoying shopping trips, games of dominoes and spending time with the people around her. Happy 105th birthday, Betty.🎉 midweekherald.co.uk/news/26094471.…

A week of delayed and cancelled trains led to 'interesting' routes home with dashes across stations and too much time on chilly platforms. But when it's out of your control smile and make the best of the ride. This was Thursday when finally on my way home.

Came home to a fox asleep in the garden (happens most days) and did a bit of flower arranging ready for the Willow Wood Hospice flower festival which is on this weekend.

A much-loved community tradition has returned as Willow Wood Hospice in Ashton-under-Lyne hosts its latest Flower Festival, which is officially opening to visitors this weekend. The event has been formally opened by the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, Mark Llewelyn DL, marking the start of a celebration of floral art and fundraising in support of hospice care. Held within the hospice grounds, this year’s festival takes inspiration from the enchanting world of Beatrix Potter, with floral displays designed to reflect the charm and storytelling of the beloved children’s author. Visitors are being invited to explore imaginative arrangements created by local groups, volunteers, and supporters, each contributing to the themed experience.
