@CorrieJanse @MrCasey62 Because that is exactly what the Bible teaches.
English

@CorrieJanse @MrCasey62 If you trust scripture you must trust tradition. Otherwise no way to formulate the canon of scripture. Illogical and historically inaccurate to say you can have one without the other.
English

@MrCasey62 Why do catholics believe tradition is equal to God breathed scripture
Brisbane, Queensland 🇦🇺 English

@DefiantBaptist Unfortunately Gavin ducks on the Catholic apologists as he would likely get owned.
English

After nearly two hours of discussion and debate, mainly centered around the Marian dogmas, Lila Rose finally realized she was overmatched by Gavin Ortlund. So, she opted for a purely emotional and subjective argument:
“Have you ever asked God, ‘If it is true, give me the grace to believe it’?”
Lila is very fortunate that Gavin was so kind to her here. This sounds like something you’d hear from an LDS elder.
English

@lovell_julius @MrCasey62 Where do you think Christian tradition originated from? Definitely not Luther.
English

@WickedWolverine @MrCasey62 Not tradition. I said Catholic tradition. Big difference.
English

@lovell_julius @MrCasey62 If you reject tradition how can you accept scripture?
English

@MrCasey62 No, we do. Jesus performed the greatest miracle of all when he saved my soul and fully sanctified me in his righteousness. What we don't believe is Catholic tradition that is not predicated on apostolic testimony. Big difference.
English

@MrCasey62 Irony of sola scriptura is the fact sola scriptura is not found in the Bible. Too many contradictions prots hold when adhering to this falsehood.
English

@farmingandJesus @DrFrankTurek If you believe this then you should reject the gospel the Catholic Church assembled ie authority to do so. How do prots know what 27 books of the New Testament for example?
English

@DrFrankTurek Because it’s a counterfeit religion. Not Christianity.
English

@SoloKingAnthony @DrFrankTurek Perhaps just perhaps the theologians of the Catholic Church 1500 years before the “reformers” understood scripture as well as tradition better than Protestants?!
English

@DrFrankTurek It's simple. They don't know because they were never taught. The Catholic Church don't teach the Bible at all.
Psalm 82:5 KJV
They know not, neither will they understand; They walk on in darkness: All the foundations of the earth are out of course.
English

@DrFrankTurek Keeping commandments a “work”? Charity a “work”? Feeding/donating to the poor a “work”? Etc etc etc
English

@TheWatchman_144 @Xtopher_Uzo Also: “If purgatory were essential to salvation, Christ and the apostles would have taught it clearly”. You mean like Faith alone, which is literally not mentioned in the Bible (only the words Faith alone are found in James 2:24).
English

@TheWatchman_144 @Xtopher_Uzo Scattered verses? That’s Protestantism in a nutshell. No tradition, personal interpretation, disagreement among the Church Father’s, rejection of Christ’s Church.
English

@VOLatileFan @MartyMcRide Top tier recruiting class + top tier portal players + returning players + Dusty May. I have a feeling Michigan will be just fine.
English

@emuse1955 @ThoughtfulSaint That’s a terrible debate topic. Morality is subjective and it changes over time. The debate would devolve into mud slinging in about 0.5 seconds.
English

I have always been confused why Catholics believe God let the popes commit murder, incest, sacrilege, unjust war, theft, blasphemy etc etc….
But God would never let them corrupted the doctrine or practice of the church. (Despite the history showing they clearly did)
It’s like “God will let them rape kids but he will stop them if they make up fake doctrines about Mary”
Catholics… I love you. But please don’t throw stones at us… in matters of church history… it won’t end well.
Ethan Muse@emuse1955
Actually, his stance on polygamy was much more strict about monogamy than St. Thomas’. It was his behavior that was liberal - and can you please find me a single quote by St. Thomas where he approves of polyandry? If a person is claiming to be a prophet, the biblical criteria for discernment are applicable to them. There are historical popes that were wicked - I wouldnt trust any private revelations that they claimed as far as I would throw them. Can you say the same for your prophet? If not, therein lies the difficulty for your position.
English

@storiesOfMormon @tinytwigger @TrueHalfCrack @CapturingChrist @emuse1955 The true Church (Catholic) is historically true with direct apostolic succession unlike some later (think thousand plus years) man made Churches.
English

@tinytwigger @TrueHalfCrack @CapturingChrist @emuse1955 Jesus founded His Church. And expected it to be named after him.
Where is the New Testament church that Jesus Christ built in His name? As Paul states it's name is supposed to be the Church of Christ.
English

@ClasslessVol Uh, no. Got three stud transfers + very good recruiting class
English

@theblockspot Most people that have actually watched both LeBron and MJ know MJ is far in away the better player. Offense and defense.
English

@TheWatchman_144 @BillArnoldTeach @5solas The point is if Protestants purport to sola scriptura THEN sola scriptures would be explicitly in the Bible. Prots co-opted the Trinity from Catholic theologians. Should listen to them on the deposit of Faith, but here we are. . .
English

@PP5261 @poperespecter1 You mean making up doctrine that never existed for 1500 years. Moreover, the listed above have many differences leading to this modern day confusion. Heretics
English

@poperespecter1 You forgot Martin Luther, John Calvin, Ulrich Zwinglii, John Knox, John Owen.
Thank God for the Reformation
English

Imagine listening to this guy instead of the greatest minds of history like St. Augustine, or St. Thomas Aquinas.
