Long ago I felt sorry for Lyndon Johnson because he was succeeded by Nixon. Nixon was corrupt but started the Environmental Protection Agency and opened China. Now I feel much worse for Barack Obama being succeeded by Trump. Trump is much more corrupt and has no redeeming values.

The joke is premised on the idea that Melania is a trophy wife married to a very wealthy older man, and she's looking forward to the day when she inherits his wealth and no longer has to pretend she loves him. You can disagree with that portrait of Trumps, but it's a very conventional, even cliched, joke to make about a beautiful woman married to a much older rich guy.
