At least now little girls who dream of Olympic medals will know that biological males can't cheat their way onto their podium...or punch them relentlessly in the face and get a medal for it. Credit to Sharron Davies and Martina Navratilova, who spoke up despite attacks from those who should've known better. They spoke up when it was easier to stay quiet and paid the price in lost income and support.

@Shambles151 @RuthlessTweets @WomenReadWomen Rodger, mate, you’re an absolute melt. Keely Hodgkinson is a superb athlete and Olympic champion. She’d be beaten by hundreds of men. The female category allows us to celebrate superb women instead of mediocre males larping as women.

@RuthlessTweets @WomenReadWomen Supporting women in sport isn't the same thing as supporting an 'easier' category that lets women win by excluding men & condemns all sportswomen to compulsory testing. I think defending an 'easier' category - is an insult to fine sportswomen. Just watched the Lionesses BTW.

Now that we know for a fact that all of the top athletes to place in Rio 2016 800M were men - now that we know that male athletes with DSDs were protected by sporting authorities - what should be done for the women who lost their dreams, and couldn't complain due to politics?
Genevieve Gluck@WomenReadWomen

At the 2016 Olympics, three men with DSDs took the top medals in the 800M Women's event. Lynsey Sharp, who placed sixth, explained in tears that it had been "difficult" to compete against Caster Semenya. The real winners: 🥇Melissa Bishop 🥈Joanna Jozwik 🥉Lynsey Sharp

@taylod1974 @afneil Whether he voted for it is irrelevant. He gets accused of promoting it, or cheerleading for it, when to the best of my recollection, he was neutral.

@afneil Andrew gets accused of being a brexiteer every day it seems. He could put it to bed and just say if he voted for it or not. If you read his tweets I think it’s obvious he voted for it, but he won’t say it and I kind of understand why as a journalist he wants to appear impartial.

@Mr_barba97 @ChemiNorth @afneil Everything he’s ever written is public record. If he pushed for it, it should be easy to find. I was a big fan of This Week and don’t recall him expressing an opinion either way.

It’s a matter of public record I was Chairman of The Spectator from 2005 till 2024. My most crucial role was to protect the editor’s independence in formulating policy, in which I played no role.

@Adam80611368 I rarely sympathise with Wales, but you’re quite right. Ireland had a clear warning, then gave away penalties on their try line.

Oh ok, Ireland give away loads of penalties in their own half and get away with it, we give away one and get yellow carded. Ireland also score from a forward pass. Fuck the refs of this sport. They’re shit. #IREvWAL

@afneil Starmer has made a lot of mistakes and probably should have resigned by now. However on this one he’s spot on. He thought America’s actions were illegal, so he didn’t help them. You wouldn’t lend someone your car, if you knew they were going to use it to rob a bank.

He refused the US use of two of its bases on British sovereign territory. It wasn’t a big ask. He should have agreed. Instead he refused — then was forced to U-turn (there’s a surprise). But the damage to Anglo-American relations was done.

@lb78437 @Ambar_SIFF_MRA The point of women’s sport is to allow fair competition. Sports like tennis have very popular women’s competitions with massive sponsorships and highly paid athletes.

@Ambar_SIFF_MRA WNBA is charity. Most women's sports is. Women's figure skaking is not. Women's gymnastics is not ...although this is dominated by girls, not women. Women's chess is charity. Women's golf...women's soccer....any sport men created but has a "Women's" division is charity.

@varadmehta She just can't get it done at the Olympics.....even with the lead Breezy Johnson gave her! In baseball terms, she was already on first base and was run down by the batter who started from home plate.

@Ghazzali_Mind @JohnCleese You can hold anything you want sacred, just accept that others don’t agree with you. Hounding a teacher out of his job and home, for showing a few cartoons is fucking deranged

Some people don’t care too much about their parents, you can mock their parents in front of them and they may get mildly upset. Others love their parents to an extent that they will cut you off from any future friendship. Violence should never be tolerated. But when you openly mock a group about something they hold sacred, its not only contrary to civilized society, it is a threat to national unity. Just because you don’t hold anything sacred doesn’t mean you should expect the rest of the world to follow your example.

honestly unbelievable: Lindsay Vonn attempted & completed her training run a week after tearing her ACL, hitting a top speed of 74 mph. They haven't fixed her ACL, it's just flopping around in there. And her other knee is made out of titanium. Very literally built different
