Like everything else in SA, it seems POPIA is a complete joke. I get dozens of cold sales calls a week and NOT ONE of them has ever been able to provide me with the responsible party's information officer details so that I can submit a data subject access request, or even bother to take my details to send them to me. This is in itself a POPIA violation. None of the telesales operators even seem to have a clue what any of this is. I don't agree with all this useless bureaucracy, but if you are going to impose this regulatory overhead on MY business then I damn well expect everyone else to jump through the same hoops and play the game.

I was today years old when I discovered that some people (white mostly) think that black (African, Coloured and Indian) people get GIVEN FREE MAHALA their stakes in BEE transactions??? There could be nothing further from the truth. BEE transactions are commercial transactions like any other transaction in the business world. When black people BUY the 30% stake or any other amount, they have to PAY. Raise funding and pay. No one, except those who choose, just give away parts of their business. BEE has injected so much money in previously white owned business, don’t allow anyone to convince you otherwise. I am flabbergasted.
