10,000 RECORDS BROKEN: It's official: This March's number of high temperature records was higher than any month after 1950. In other words, this was the most intense, biggest heat wave in modern history. 429 stations set MONTHLY records MORE THAN 100 YEARS OLD. The longest period of record for one of those stations was Lawrence, Kansas, (157 years, or 1869). Daily + monthly records added up to over 10,000. accuweather.com/en/weather-new…

The astonishing rate of March snowmelt in Colorado River Basin continues, and is now well into record-low territory (even, it appears, relative to pre-SNOTEL era). And the extreme regional heatwave is only slowly fading, with unprecedented March melt continuing in meantime.

Denver (DIA) just tied the all-time March record high temp of 86°. As a reminder: the current 86° record was set on Saturday, which broke the back-to-back record of 85° set last Thursday and Friday. #COwx

@jacecraftmiller The latest GLM imagery (1301Z) does suggest that the boom was a result of a meteor.

@MissAshes92 Agreed — what does speculation do/help with in a case like this?

I don't think it is good media practice to publish assumptions of what decisions could come about. Why not just report on the decisions made and leave the "might" out of it.

Noting: We (CWG) don't advise schools. We may tell you what we think schools might do because we get asked constantly. But schools have their own processes...many coordinate with emergency management agencies that get briefings from the National Weather Service.

This was a fun hike, I went up to St Mary’s Glacier where winds were forecast to reach 80 mph—and I believe it! I felt like I was skydiving with all the wind in my face 😅 and the sting from the snow/ice particles flying in was painful. But I got a cool picture and video! #cowx

DC'S LARGEST 24-HOUR TEMPERATURE DROP ON RECORD!!! 🌡️🥶 DC saw a 51° temperature drop between 3pm yesterday (84°F) and 3pm today (33°F) which ties the largest 24-hour temperature change in DC history (records back to 1929) It's ties a drop from nearly a CENTURY ago! Where DC fell from 65°F at 5pm on January 28th to 14°F at 5pm on January 29th, 1934! Incredible! Once in a lifetime temperature swing for the DC region!

We have a new state of IL record for max hail size! Preliminary measurements find a maximum dimension of 6.14 inches. Thank you so much to the Denault family of Kankakee for inviting me into their home, sharing their experience, and letting me take the stone for measurement.

The Interior just made history. From February 25 through March 11, Fairbanks averaged -20°F, the coldest such period recorded. This shattered the 1971 record of -17°F. Whether you were topping off the fuel tank or battling a cold start, you just survived one for the books! #akwx
