Life is amazing: -gyms exist -Christopher Nolan movies exist -hot girls outnumber even moderately put-together dudes 2000 to 1 -you and your wife can get drunk at a dimly-lit steakhouse then go home and watch Titanic and smash all night without a condom -you and your friends can hit the gym then smoke a joint at a Coldplay concert -every food item in the world has been hunted and gathered for you (grocery stores) -you could be working 16 hour days in a coal mine in a third world country -you’re spinning on a sphere in an infinite universe and the fact you’re alive is a 1 in 500 trillion miracle If anyone ever complains in front of you tell them they’re an idiot :)

The cross-modal multilingual capability in Meta CLIP 2 is naturally from scaling. It is a reflection of the Bitter Lesson(@RichardSSutton) on building a scalable learning environment, and let optimization and scale do the heavy lifting. Inspired by Jensen Huang’s scaling law plot (at CES2025), the scaling isn’t just about increasing compute or data at each stage—it’s about consistently identifying bottlenecks, removing constraints, and rethinking a simpler setup to make it more scalable. This mindset extends to data curation itself: starting from ImageNet to worldwide data curation. @AIatMeta

🌿Introducing MetaCLIP 2 🌿 📝: arxiv.org/abs/2507.22062 code, model: github.com/facebookresear… After four years of advancements in English-centric CLIP development, MetaCLIP 2 is now taking the next step: scaling CLIP to worldwide data. The effort addresses long-standing challenges: (1) large-scale non-English data curation pipelines are largely undeveloped, and (2) the curse of multilinguality, where English performance often degrades in multilingual CLIP compared to English-only CLIP. With a complete recipe for worldwide CLIP—spanning data curation, modeling, and training—we show that English and non-English worlds can mutually benefit and elevate each other, achieving SoTA multilingual performance. Join the Meta booth at #ACL2025 to learn more. (1/3)

@k44yej @MicrosoftAI None opportunities for people outside Europe? Don't you think that would be a huge lost in talent?

Unfortunately couldn’t make #kubecon this year but I am hiring for k8s experts! If you’re looking and have worked on build or management of large scale K8s clusters, low level operators and controllers or scheduling/ orchestration then @MicrosoftAI are keen! DM me!

Human emulators are the next big thing. Anything that can be done using a computer screen will be disrupted & replaced by agents. MOE has significantly reduced inference cost, maintaining comparable intelligence. Recent @SemiAnalysis_ article showed an interesting benchmark: DeepSeek R1 FP4 on GB300 goes from about $2.35 to $0.11 per 1M total tokens at 150 tok/s/user when MTP is enabled. Just imagine Claude frontier model API available at something closer to the Kimi 2.5 price point or even cheaper with better cache, more context length (~10M tokens) with agents reliably running for 7 days at a stretch to fix issues. 90% of use cases would be solved if this is the case, as not every job or every day you wake up and build a browser from scratch. Add one more axis of distillation on top of that. That makes inference even cheaper. Speculative decoding, better runtimes, and recent architectural breakthroughs like attention residuals keep compounding to improve throughput. When GB300 backed inference capacity becomes widely available, especially for memory heavy and reasoning heavy workloads, I expect tremors across the software ecosystem. I'm not surprised the high risk venture market has already moved from bits to atoms..

@DidiKieran I read the paper, i implemted the core of the paper, i tested my hypothesis of using a buffer to store best scoring formations and I got positive results. Can you give me an opportunity to talk about the stuff I did ? @DidiKieran the zoom link seems broken.
