🚨 BREAKING: A fan who shared a flight to Shanghai with Isaac Hadjar and Kimi Antonelli claims the two drivers were discussing the Formula 1 rounds in the Middle East, reportedly already confirmed to be cancelled. Hadjar jokingly told Antonelli: “That’s two fewer races for you to win.”

Close your eyes and think of Verstappen. You can see the overtake at Abu Dhabi Think of Hamilton. You can see his rookie season, his dominance Think of Prost, Senna, Schumacher. And you see endless moments and stories Now close your eyes and think of George Russell. Nothing.

Ferrari can't be accused of not trying to push the envelope with the SF-26. I just hope it brings them the rewards they want when the season gets underway... #F1 the-race.com/formula-1/the-…

@RobLMyers Strange idea tbh, when at 90degs it acts like an air brake crating massive drag, then when rotated the thin trailing edge is forwards whilst the thicker leading adge is at the back creating turbulence and drag. Can’t see why they are trying this tbh.

That Ferrari rear wing active aero is super innovative. I wasn't expecting to see the wing element fully rotating! Wow. #F1

@dr_obbs The gains don’t appear to big enough to revise the rear axle to chase this concept. Other teams knew this blown diffuser was coming after Barcelona where the Ferrari axle position gave this away so they have done CFD work on it in advance of Ferrari revealing this today.

I have gotten this question a lot now, so I will answer it in a QT. Yes. Because of the regulation volumes referencing the location from the rear axle, it would require a change in rear axle location. Not easy to do. With that said, the jury is still out on how big this really is. I've had a few discussions with some people across a few teams, and the impact of this is a bit iffy. Some aren't a fan of this approach as they think the gains are marginal at best. Another is intrigued but feels it must have been a big gain if they moved the axle for it. I love the innovation though. And the rules interpretation to find ways to add a bit more entrainment through throttle demand and help the diffuser perform better. But I'm not so convinced this is a massive performance differentiator that some are saying it is. But I can certainly be wrong!

@dr_obbs @dr_obbs is this Ferrari interpertation of the blown diffuser difficult to copy i think not what is youre opinion?

@redclerc The FIA are actually admitting the engine is legal and are now capitulating to pressure from the other engine manufacturers who would rather not develope the same solution. If the FIA thought it was illegal, based on the regulations as written, it would be banned instantly.

the fia basically admitting the merc engine is illegal but it will be allowed to remain illegal until over halfway through the season is corruption at such a shameless degree i don't even have words for it

@GazzettaFerrari The Ferrari blown diffuser has been on the radar since Barcelona. By studying the design shape other teams knew this was coming weeks ago.

🚨 | BREAKING! It’s being said Ferrari deliberately saved this update for the final day, and that it could be worth around 0.150–0.250s. The idea is to convert exhaust airflow into downforce. This morning, some figures — including Andrea Stella — reportedly studied that area closely. 📰 @KemalSengulll

@thef1diplomat Mercedes should just come pout with a statement saying the engine does not exceed 16-1 ratio and if anyone complains then they or FIA can find a way of proving it does not. Until they can probe otherwise, let’s go racing.

Any changes for the rule condition or enforcement before March 1’s homologation freeze or the start of the season are highly unlikely. My opinion? The FIA is evaluating HOW it could mandate a new test for compression ratio under running conditions (since there is no precedent EVER for this). Additionally, the FIA wants to ensure the majority is behaving in technical spirit, not political. It won’t reward political collusion without proof of fraud/cheating. 2026 won’t be touched, other than if the FIA wants to use it as a data-gathering season to understand what all of the PU’s are doing at running condition. This will probably be until May 2026, so that if any new rule conditions are changed, it will be before the June 2026 cutoff to apply it to 2027 onwards. Remember, these new test conditions won’t be taken at face value from the PUAC majority, because the FIA has to evaluate whether the are valid, applicable, and don’t compromise the rest of homologation architecture, even for the ones who are voting for a change. Very stressful situation for the FIA, TBH. It is backed into a corner.
formularacers@formularacers_

🚨 | There is a growing belief that action against the Mercedes engine is now inevitable. The FIA are expected to reach a decision before the Australian GP.

@EightMike @thef1diplomat Yes it is a measure of the volume of the combustion chamber at tdc. So the test would pump a gas or liquid into that space to measure that volume. Can’t be done with the engine running. If done with a hot engine you then have the problem of the test gas or liquid itself expanding

This makes no regulatory sense. You can’t mandate a new runtime compression test mid-homologation, apply it to one PU manufacturer, and call that enforcement. Either the rule defines a live operating test for all manufacturers, or it doesn’t. Selective testing based on rumor isn’t compliance, it’s a witch trial.
Daily Mercedes F1@_DailyMercedes

🚨 | NEWS: A new proposal is incoming to the F1 Commission in Bahrain. A new plan would measure Mercedes’ engine compression ratio live during operation. If 4 of the 5 manufacturers back it, this could get fast-tracked and approved quickly. [Motorsport Italia]
