@indygrl Most would consider me privileged if they knew where I grew up, but it’s the little things that were a luxury….McDonalds and a visit to Sizzler on our annual road trip was a treat. Otherwise we always ate at home…..part of why I was able to grow up where I did. Frugal parents.

As I’ve gotten older I understand why 99% of my friends stayed in Pennsylvania PA smokes every other state in terms of walkable urbanism. It’s dotted with beautiful, cozy walkable towns like Doylestown, New Hope, Lititz, Lancaster, Germantown, Jim Thorpe. One of the only states where you can afford a home on an acre or 2 and be within range of several major cities, beaches, mountains. The people yearn for a Main Street town, especially in a country choking on decades of car-centric urban development and suburbia purgatory. Combine all this with a reasonable cost of living, northeast corridor location, heavy tree cover, 4 seasons, etc there’s a lot to love about PA. I’m not surprised real estate has continued to appreciate while FL/TX/Sun Belt markets have contracted. Not sure if I will ever move back but I hold my home state close to my heart, shout out Bucks County <3

If the cap is raised to 20, Cal and 1 of either FSU, Miami, or GT is added. B10 gets into the South and takes Cal which is something I think the DC people would like to see corrected. Essentially this is a 1 and 1. A school FOX wants in FL and one school that the presidents and DC would want in Cal. Just IMO

@CFB_Signals ACC has to get to an even number. Unbalanced conference schedule is clownish. Another western team to help bridge the gap to cal and Stanford makes sense. Or just give ND 51% ownership of the conference if they join

Don’t expect any additions with G5 or G6 schools anytime soon. I hate to break the it’s bad news, but it’s economically not feasible.

Protect College Sports Act - if we are going to create federal law around conference membership size, let's at least be smart about this and do the following two things 1: Create a Cal and Stanford carve out so they are not forced to be in the ACC forever 2: Cap it at 22 or 24

The change to a pass-fail USMLE step 1 score has been an oddly quiet transition for what is probably the most logically flawed and narrow-sighted decision. If you recall, the main points advocating the change centered on: 1. Student well being 2. Residency program overreliance on step 1 scores 3. Admission equity/equal opportunities for scoring high requires access to resources etc Well… did anybody think to consider the following: 1. Step 2 is arguably tested during a more stressful time in a students life: clinical years, application time, late 20s when more are starting families or planning pregnancy prior to residency, there’s no allotted time off to study for it, etc. No? So that’s bullshit. 2. Residency over relied on step 1, but students had step 2 as well to dilute bad attempts. Now they only have step 2… No? Hard to have come up with this thought? 3. What’s more equal about limiting students to a more expensive one time attempt at a step 2 score? It continues to amaze me how a profession with so many intelligent people manages to produce such poor decisions. Then I realize that we, the doctors, are rarely in control of these decisions and feel a bit better once again. TLDR; moving step 1 to pass fail was a monumental level of stupidity, especially when leaving step 2 scored. And no, step 2 correlating better with clinical performance is not justification

All Big 12 schools are under a GOR until 2031. They can't move. Any ACC school, in theory, could get an offer from the Big Ten, send in the withdraw notice, and formalize/finish agreement prior to the PCSA being signed into law.

@TBM_JY None of these ACC schools are going anywhere unless Grant of Rights goes, and if that happens ND is B1G bound (because the ACC will not exist as a source of competitive scheduling). Also UVA and UNC make far more sense for B1G (culturally, geographically, academically) than SEC.

Big Ten - FSU & Miami SEC - UNC, NCST, VA, & … Assuming a hard cap of 20 members (it’s 19 in the senate, but wait for the house), I believe this is where we are headed. I’m not sure the SEC is in a hurry. ND will stay Indy for as long as humanly possible with a tie to the ACC.

Nobody joining who aint AAU and U do know that university presidents thats in the conference vote to determine if u get in so the conference can say what they want the university presidents who hold the power in the vote and they not letting a school in who cant bring in more money for they schools

If/when the B1G and SEC go to 24 this is how I think it’ll look.

@canegang305mia It’s not a requirement though. Nebraska isn’t AAU. But it definitely helps and FSU is very close to becoming AAU.
