Trust Drives Execution. Strategy matters. Systems matter. But under pressure, execution does not come from diagrams, it comes from people. Leadership is not about calling the perfect play. It is about empowering the right people to execute it.

I want to comment on something I heard from Your job is a great activity. Your sport is a great activity. Your success, your platform, your title—great activities. But they are terrible identities. Nothing in this world can never love you back the way you want it to.

@_KingEmeka @BethMooreLPM What does this question have anything to do with this story? Why would you even ask such a question in the context of the story?

A story. Years ago at one of the passion conferences, Louie Giglio asked John Piper and me to lunch then went suspiciously quiet. And there we were, sitting across from one another forced to talk or take the chance of dishonoring our host. I’m not saying this was Louie’s intention. But I suspect it was Christ’s since he’s the Head of every table where Christians sit even if he’s unacknowledged. There we were, two people who loved Jesus, prized his fellowship above all earthly treasures, pored over the scriptures and prayed day in and day out. Passionate about Jesus then and to this day. If either of us are faking it then you’ve got to at least give us credit for keeping it up for so long. But we saw some things differently that caused us to have a certain allergy to each other. Disapproval of one another. I realize this story will bring out side takers and maybe even haters but they will have missed the point. Neither John nor I have always been right or wrong. I wouldn’t say we got particularly chatty or chummy. But we talked a bit and mostly about family. That was common ground and good ground. I’ve always been tender toward his kids as I’d like to think he’s been toward mine. It’s brutally hard to be the children of such opinionated and outspoken people. Imagine how many times our children have opened up social media and seen where we’ve dropped some kind of grenade, a take on something they could not support or, if they did, certainly wouldn’t have wanted us to say it publicly the way we said it. Many years have passed. But every single time I have ever squirmed over anything he has said or written, I revisit that lunch. I think how hard it is at times for people who come from such different places and see things from different sides of the table to understand one another. And what I know even when I don’t agree with his take on a thing is that his faith is genuine, his love for Jesus indisputable and his endurance admirable. And I can say to myself, that is my brother.

It’s easy to get swept up in the season. The lights, the pace, the pressure to make everything feel perfect. But this image says: there’s a deeper reason we celebrate. The tre e fades. The cross stands. Hope didn’t arrive during a holiday. It arrived through a Savior.

@tbhawkes I’m truly curious… how do you think the head coach or OC knew about this during the game? They aren’t watching the broadcast to see the replays… refs didn’t see it… How would coaches know? After the game Head coach said he heard about it and said he would make a decision

@ChadLarsen No chance. The Asst Coaches/position coaches have the broadcast playing. You really think that they didn't see the announcers talking about it? Literally impossible. They know.. they just don't care cause that's their program mentality.

Is anyone surprised that CSU can have a player spit on an opposing player and get no punishment from their staff? Total lack of class from a team/AD that is the literal epitome of lack of class on an institutional level.

If the 1st thing you think of is politics or Trump when you hear the news that people (especially young girls dying in a flood in Texas) you have a PROBLEM and have made politics your idol. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Matthew 5:4

@jim_benemann Stop it @jim_benemann - stop using this horrific tragedy into a political circus. Just stop this nonsense. Have some dignity and empathy and just don’t say anything. It was the middle of the night. Don’t really think it could have been avoided?

Tragic, indeed. But Mr. Veep, also be sure to read the NYT report on how staffing cuts at the National Weather Service in Texas impacted local authorities’ ability to get the warnings out in time to save lives. Heaven forbid what will happen in Tornado Alley and hurricane zones.
JD Vance@JDVance

Our nation's heart breaks for the victims in Texas and their families. Just an incomprehensible tragedy. I hope everyone affected knows they're in the prayers of my family, and of millions of Americans. ***Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.***

@FoxNews Let’s be clear: the Iranian people overthrew the monarchy in 1979 after decades of dictatorship, repression, and foreign interference. That chapter is closed. No uprising since has called for a return to monarchy. #Iran #NoToMonarchy

There are certain expectations we are absolutely right to have about people in any realm of Christian ministry: Pastors, teachers, communicators, singers, worship leaders, church leaders, representatives of Christian nonprofits, etc. Expect them to be flawed? Imperfect? Yes. BUT
