One of my main memories of 2025 will be descent into farce of the much anticipated Corbyn party, aka Friendship Is Magic A politically inept leadership, a narcissistic opposition, and an idiotic activist base criminally squandered the huge potential that existed over the summer

@NeilClark66 I remember he was brilliant for Forest against Oxford in a League Cup match at the Manor. It was in 1978, I think. Forest won 5-0. I used to go to Oxford Utd matches regularly during that era, and I think it was the most comprehensively I ever saw them outplayed.

For all the disappointment many neutrals will feel over Hearts not winning the SPL- one thing must not be overlooked. The record of Martin O’Neill . Whether as a player (Nottm Forest/Norwich/N. Ireland) or manager (Wycombe, Leicester, Villa, ROI, Celtic) the man’s record of success is extraordinary. No other manager could delivered Celtic the title this year.

Hey Romeo! "I Don't Wanna Go Down to the Basement," live at CBGB in 1974. One track from the debut that barely made it onto the setlists back in the 70s, and it's a real good one. Listen to the studio version: ramones.lnk.to/R40DE #Ramones50

@kevmcguiremusic He is a part time lino who made a mistake. Not every mistake is someone out to get us. Lino’s cannot try and do us out of titles as the lines will fix it. But aye, this is 100% why we have VAR. As much as I hate what it does to the game, we need it to stay for moments like this

'I voted Labour for 50y until 2019. There is no fcuking way I would ever vote for a party that supports genocide...' Said with a straight face. No self-awareness at all

@bmay I voted Labour for 50y until 2019. There is no fcuking way I would ever vote for a party that supports genocide and is owned by Palantir. It is a corrupt party

I can't get over Daizen Maeda. He went from a near exit to the Bundesliga, to 17 games without a goal, to one of the most iconic runs of form I have EVER seen.

No PM in my life has made any significant positive impact on UK lives. That shows that our political system is broken. It has an inability to produce people & political parties that improve ordinary people's lives. Corbyn could have been but was stopped by the establishment.

Hoy, el Celtic de Glasgow ha conquistado la Liga escocesa. A pesar de la censura y caza de brujas, su afición antifascista siempre ha mostrado compromiso y solidaridad con el pueblo de Palestina.

@Clementtomorrow @WokeratiMarty He didn't exactly cave in. The mob was shocked, confused, and traumatized after the 2017 election result. Rather than delivering the knockout blow, Corbyn nursed it back to health.

Jeremy Corbyn talking about the coup attempt he survived as Labour leader: “We had a very stormy meeting of the PLP, at which abuse was thrown at me for about an hour. Then I went outside, and there were ten thousand people in Parliament Square saying I should run again.” 💪

What he was selling was 'unity' with warmongers and sociopaths. The 'country' needed that like it needed a hole in the head.
Anna@AnadrielAnna

@WokeratiMarty The country needed so badly what Jeremy was selling in 2017/19. The rot was deep, Brexit was biting and inequality was growing. It was undermined from within. The MSM also took part. Protecting the neoliberal project. It’s so much worse now. It will need a miracle to recover.

I was one of those ten thousand people - I remember it was the day Iceland beat England and Italy beat Spain in Euro 2016 - so I was very happy the PLP coup failed. But what a disappointment he and the movement around him turned out to be!

This was carved from a single block of marble by a 23 year old in 1622. Bernini turned stone into flesh... The sculpture is called the Abduction of Proserpina, and it depicts the moment described in Ovid's Metamorphoses, when the goddess Proserpina was gathering flowers in a meadow and the earth opened beneath her. Pluto, king of the underworld, rose from the dark to take her. Out of every instant in that abduction, Bernini chose the one when her feet leave the ground. She is suspended in his arms. She is no longer in the world above, and not yet in the world below. Her left hand pushes desperately against Pluto's face. Her right is thrown back toward a sky she will never see again. And where the god's fingers close around her thigh, the marble surrenders to them, dimpling inward as living flesh would, as though Bernini had reached the deepest secret of stone and discovered that it had always been waiting to give in. He used to boast that in his hands, "marble became as impressionable as wax and as soft as dough." On her right cheek, a single tear has been running for four hundred years... The work was commissioned in 1621 by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, who wanted it as a showpiece for his own villa. He kept it for less than a year. In the summer of 1622, with a new pope newly elected, he gave it away as a political gift to the pope's nephew, Cardinal Ludovico Ludovisi. It disappeared into private hands for nearly three centuries. The Italian state bought it back in 1908 and returned it to the room it had been made for. It has been there ever since. I have stood in front of it, and I can tell you that nothing prepares you for the moment you actually see those fingers in her thigh. The marble seems alive and you forget, for a few seconds, that it is stone at all... -- -- -- If you enjoyed this, I write a weekly newsletter read by over 50,000 people who love rediscovering the beauty of the past. @gaoblai It has nothing to do with Burnham. It is because the consciousness of the British left is at a shockingly low level. I noticed this during the first wave of Corbynism. Until the left decides to change that, nothing will change. If it weren't Burnham, it would be something else.
