An ICE lawyer turned whistleblower is raising the alarm over the deployment of ICE to fill in for TSA airport security officers who are unpaid and quitting as a partial government shutdown drags on. The move "forces the public to submit to a criminal checkpoint system if they wish to exercise their freedom of travel. At best, this forces Americans to accept the same kind of checkpoint systems once used in the Soviet Union and East Germany. Bahrain has submitted a draft UN Security Council resolution that would allow nations to voluntarily commit to a naval coalition that would secure passage for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. It’s likely that’s China and Russia will veto the measure.
Per the draft:
“The Security Council authorizes Member States, acting nationally or through voluntary multinational naval partnerships, for which advance notification has been provided to the Security Council, to use all necessary means, in and around the Strait of Hormuz, including within the territorial waters of littoral States within or bordering the Strait of Hormuz, to secure transit passage and to repress, neutralize, and deter attempts to close, obstruct, or otherwise interfere with international navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, until such time as the Council decides otherwise.”
