@finkn23 Agreed. Celebrate the pennant, the division title, the 14 wins in a row, the Naquin walk off inside the parker, etc. It was an awesome season worthy of celebration. But don't celebrate a moment from one of the most painful losses in sports history.

@ByuSome BYU has a legitimate beef. The problem isn't that there are "only" 12 teams. The problem is the committee. In no world should a 13 person committee be in charge of the sport. The solution to this problem is not expanding to 24 where there will be even more bubble controversy.

@TBM_Steve We all have to acknowledge that there is a number where the scales tip. Most sports leagues don't realize they've gone too far with playoff expansion until they've gone too far. Nobody knows where exactly too many is, but once you hit it it's too late.

I don't have a particular number that I'm willing to fight and die for in this debate. I will say Danny is 100% correct. The same people who said a 12 team playoff would kill College Football are now telling us 24 teams would actually be the apocalypse.
Danny Kanell@dannykanell

One trend I am noticing...the SAME people who never wanted a 4 team playoff are the SAME people who didn't want a 12 team playoff. And now those SAME people are pounding the table against expansion. Even tho the 12 team playoff has been a MASSIVE success they don't admit it!!!

@FightOnRusty @GoPSUsports Unfortunately, I don't think Ohio State is much better. We'll see what they charge USC fans when they come our way in 2027. Have fun in Happy Valley this year. Absolutely incredible atmosphere. I'm bummed Ohio State will not be playing Penn State this year, first time since 1992.

pretty pathetic @GoPSUsports is charging $300+ a ticket for USC fans to fly across the country to attend Penn State's biggest home game of the year i'm told the home team determines the pricing for games.

@geoffschwartz Not to be Mr Technical but USC has made the Cotton Bowl twice, and won the Rose Bowl. Making a NY6 Bowl was an accomplishment in the 4 team playoff era. Your general point still stands.

@TonyGerdeman If you are a G5 team or a mediocre P4 team the regular season will still have meaning in a 24 team format. For top tier P4 teams getting to 8-4 is not difficult when most of them have at least 6 wins baked into the schedule. That's easier than making the playoffs in MLB or NFL.

@TheVOCFB 2018 Penn State Whiteout for almost the entire game. Still not sure how Ohio State survived that one.

@DylanEveryday As someone who has been to brutally hot games in both Columbus and Baton Rouge, it is not comparable. I thought I was on the precipice of hell in Tiger Stadium. Can't speak for Austin, have only driven through, but I imagine it is closer to Baton Rouge than Columbus.

It’s amazing that Texas fans somehow can not understand the Sun is the Sun And sitting in the Sun in September for 4 hours is more miserable than not sitting in the sun for 4 hours 2006, or 2026 does not change that 😂

@TimBrando @SEC @GregSankey I enjoy the Friday night games. Take my sons to the local high school game when they are playing at home, and are back home in time to watch the 2nd half of the CFB game.

Gee since the ALMIGHTY @SEC has been shutout of National Title 🏈games @GregSankey has decided to play the role of the sport’s moral compass by playing an old and tired narrative around “High School Friday Night Lights” as tho all the other Leagues are somehow carpet baggers but not his! Spare us the virtue signalling🏈we don’t need it in today’s climate.🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️
The Next Round@NextRoundLive

NO FRIDAY GAMES: The SEC will remain as the only power conference to not play any football games on Fridays. Sankey said "For everybody that thinks we just grab money, we could grab money just by putting games on different nights of the week," when asked about Friday games. This allows for high school football in the south, which are massively important community events, to continue to have it's own stage.

@CFBChuckk In the 2 team format you had to win the argument if there were 3 undefeated teams, so tough ooc games were needed. With 4 teams you needed the better SOS if you were a 1 loss team. In the 12 team format if you go 11-1 in the big ten or sec you are 100% in regardless of ooc.

I just need to quickly get this straight Tough out of conference schedules were OK in 2 and 4 team CFPs… We add 8 more spots and now suddenly you might lose so you can’t play So adding 12 more spots is the answer? Sounds to me like yall should be arguing to go back to 4…

@Firstand16_Pod Funny enough everyone said this about the change from 4 to 12, and the opposite has been true. We may find the same is true with 24. Non-Con schedules were at their best under the Bowls and Polls format. Ohio State in 1995 played Boston College, Washington, Pitt, and Notre Dame.

Under the current 12-team playoff, P4 teams are cancelling marquee non-conference games because it isn’t worth the risk of taking a loss (Texas vs Ohio State last year), or they are refusing to play home-and-home because they don’t want to play in the road. A 24-team playoff may fix that issue. So yes, those games won’t be “As Big” but at least they will happen. 🤷‍♂️

@GrahamCoffeyDC @MelMcDanielFan Ohio State Non-Con of late: 2021 Oregon, 2022 Notre Dame, 2023 Notre Dame, 2025 Texas, 2026 Texas, 2027 Alabama, 2028 Alabama. But yeah lets rip them for 2024 when they had to cancel a non-conference game with Washington because they joined the Big Ten.

@MelMcDanielFan Sure. Really we should mock Michigan, Ohio State and Indiana. The last three title winners didn’t play a P4 team at all out of conference. Georgia and FSU still play 10 P4 games each. If they’d played in 2027 it would have been UGA’s 11th P4 game.

@HorsemenPod Ohio State has done their part and has been willing to play home night games in November. UCLA last season, and Michigan State in 2023. Ohio State gets stuck on Fox at Noon so often they will take any night game they can get which has worked to NBCs benefit in November.

@RBuckeyeOSUFan After losing 4 in a row the #1, #2, and #3 priority this year was beating Michigan. Anything else would have been gravy.

Sure, 2025 had a pretty disappointing ending, but all four top 11 picks were proudly part of the 2024 title team and made sure to end their regular season careers on a high by crushing Michigan in their own building. All in all, I'd say all four had incredibly successful college

Ryan Day said the 2019 playoff game against Clemson and the Peach Bowl vs. Georgia are the games that haunts him. Day said if they call the targeting against Marvin Harrison Jr. vs. Georgia they win that game.
