Much like finance, my thoughts are experiencing compounding growth. Is anyone else feeling this?

Airbnb stuck their entire customer journey up on their office walls. Drawn by a Pixar animator, pinned where everyone walks past them daily. 30 frames. 15 for hosts. 15 for guests. They call it "Snow White." Chesky stole the idea from a Walt Disney biography in 2011. Every new product idea has to answer: → "Which frame does this serve?" If it fits a frame, that determines the owner, who prioritises it against their KPIs. If it doesn’t fit a frame, it doesn’t serve the customer, and doesn’t get shipped.

@signulll OpenAI’s entire taste of Bauhausdieterjonyivejobsmaxxing is smart as they are slowly supplanting the og where it began with apple. “Marketing is about values” One does emoji billboards and one is doing this video. is OpenAI early 80’s Apple? Or early 2000s version

every time i watch this ad, i *feel* something. kudos to openai & sama for making it. the art direction but esp the music (young fathers track ironically from an apocalyptic movie).. all it works insanely well together. i never get a chance to watch ads except for when i watch live sports & this ad just works on multiple dimensions every time i see it.

the best marketing teams scale their distribution systems normal, novice marketing founder: UGC is working. let's scale it by going from 7 to 30 creators. we'll make a larger groupchat and just DM more people larger programs: we're at 10 creators right now. I'm a one person team, let me take my top, most responsive creator and have them manage more creators also, instead of just DMing more people on TikTok, let's create a referral system and offer $200 for every person a creator refers who signs up also, let me start posting on Twitter and make Reels about our UGC program to get more leads. this works across influencer marketing, UGC, paid ads, and any type of distribution at some point, you'll need to systemize the way your distribution scales. more of your time will be spent engineering your distributions systems than the actual marketing itself.

Tried all of the agentic video editors to-date. All show promise but too early for daily driving. Curious if this is better.

After several years of declining search traffic, Condé Nast CEO @rogerlynch has directed all the company's brands to operate as if search traffic to their properties will be zero. He says the era of turning search and social media traffic into profitable businesses is gone. And that if you run a media business that doesn't have an authoritative brand, a very strong niche, or a direct audience, you're going to be fighting hostile algo changes all the way down. He describes a recent board meeting: "We took a snapshot of search results from seven or eight years ago. And what you saw were a few sponsored links, then the ten blue links." "Do the same search today, you get an AI overview, then you get rows and rows and rows of commerce links, then you get sponsored stuff." "Each of the last three years, we would do our budgets, and we'd put forecasts in of search traffic declining. Because we'd seen the pattern of algorithm changes. And generally those algorithm changes were negative." "Every year, our search traffic was down more than we had forecast. So last year I told our teams, 'Assume there's no search.' You have to have your businesses planned as if search is zero. We don't expect it to be zero, we expect it to be a single-digit percentage of our traffic."

@Jibran_05 This is why I think briefs are over done. You constantly want to own the conversation in a specific direction - incentives do this better than giving people a script.

i speak to a few engineering teams starting UGC a month the calls usually go the same I mention their current UGC, issues with their story telling, the flow of the videos... and the feedback usually falls flat then i start speaking i decision trees absolutes about Instagram Reels and warmup periods formulas about view to like ratios and they immediately perk up the issue is, content isn't formulaic there's no mathematical way to go viral both TikTok and Instagram algorithms are nondeterministic. sure, there are general rules to follow and thresholds that generally hold true (and I've heard rumors of *some* absolutes and human review embedded in their algos)... the point still stands. don't treat content like engineering. treat it like you're telling a story to a friend. there's no formula to telling a good story.

one AI company is pushing UGC at a rate 5x everyone else the conventional wisdom is to post AT MOST 2 videos a day... but Loveable is having their creators post up to TEN TIMES A DAY they've found one format and are having all their creators spam it: 1) selfie while talking about how much money they made ("I made 1.5k while at the gym") 2) show screen recording of google maps 3) use Loveable to make the website Late April: "Easy side hustle with AI" → "Charged them $1.2K while working out" Early May: "My family is fighting cuz we're broke" → "Making a doctor's salary while watching TV" This week: "My friends dumped me cuz I'm broke" → Duct-taping mouth shut → "Charged them $2K (my biggest deal yet) before bed" I pulled this entire analysis on Lightreel AI by asking: "can you analyze loveables ugc strategy what have they done and what are they recently changing over the last few days" full link with all their videos and creators in the comments

@thatguybg Disagree I think context lives in numerous different companies! Whoever locks in compounding data moats can win in this area in different niches. Nobody will be able to capture all of that in one company!
