The state of electric vehicles has just gotten VERY bleak here in the US. The currently administration knew exactly what would cut EVs deep and they went for it. Axed ZEV credits. Axed the $7,500 point of sale consumer tax credit. Urging automakers to make more affordable and less efficient gas vehicles. Negative electric propaganda rhetoric is higher than ever despite having the best infrastructure and supply chain we’ve EVER had for electric vehicles. And it’s working. Tesla sales are down. Ford is axing all but one of their EVs. Stellantis is axing most of their EVs. Rivian R1 sales are down. GM is likely next to start cutting some of their electric lineup. US electric auto makers are hanging on for dear life. Sad times.

Tesla realistically has zero path to profitability and likely to see $8-$10 billion dollar a year losses going forward. That is a very optimistic estimate if Tesla $TSLA can maintain its current marketshare in Europe and China. The more likely scenario is Tesla is priced out in the next 1-2 years and those losses are much higher. Faking technologies and progress is great for stock pumps, it doesn’t pay the bills for an irrelevant company.
