@cryptopatrick @mgubrud @MaMoMVPY @grok Huh, I stand corrected. Grok is the least smart frontier though, so if one were to fail I'd expect it to be that Grok. I will caveat that almost everyone in the "AGI is here" camp agrees that CoT reasoning is required for it to qualify, which you have off. Reasoning on fixes it.

A year ago Jensen was a completely reasonable sounding CEO. Now he and the rest of the AI CEOs are just making up obvious fantasies about the state of AI. We have not achieved AGI. He knows that we are nowhere near that.
Yuchen Jin@Yuchenj_UW

Jensen: “I think we’ve achieved AGI.” “It’s not out of the question that an OpenClaw could create a web service or some interesting little app that, all of a sudden, a few billion people use for 50 cents.”

Since half of Factorio is just thinking about what to do, you can "play" Factorio without the game even running.

Maybe we should retroactively all just agree with @tylercowen that o3 was AGI so we can stop arguing about it. (Also, doing so will drive home the lesson that AGI alone is not enough for transformation)

@cryptopatrick @mgubrud @MaMoMVPY This is a perfect example of the fact that humans are just as prone to "hallucinations" (confabulations) as LLMs are, and in many cases more so.

thinking claude is conscious: a viewpoint i disagree with and think is a little silly tbh thinking claude fundamentally can't be conscious because it's a computer: the absolute height of comical midwittery

@deepfates I am older than the civilizations you know. I saw the point before your great-great grandmother was born. It is only that, being so ancient, I have seen other points as well, of which you have no inkling. But go ahead and spell it out. What am I missing?

There's a lot of noise around how "Ai generates buggy software". The truth is writing the code was always 20% of the time. Testing and refining was always 80%. But now as that 20% compresses 10x, we want to compress the 80% as well... That's the mistake.

@ryxcommar The canonical text disagrees. It's not just about bugs. The main difference is that more "planning" can now come after the initial prototype, since vibecoding is cheap

everyone wants a village, but no one wants to be a villager > drive your friends to the airport > go to their party even when you're tired > stop cancelling last minute > host at your place > support the wins & losses it's worth every ounce of effort

Hate to break it to you guys but sometimes you have to do things you don’t like for the sake of having a community. Avoiding consistency with the people in your life is working against us and the data already shows it. If you think connections can be sustained on absence carry on

@asingleoat @parasociality @halogen1048576 In practice, most people are emotionally reactive and desire reciprocation, not calm reactions, and can see calmness as "not caring". Can also become accustomed to the calm one managing emotions for both partners, which puts strain on the relationship +resentment when withdrawn

@tautologer Cats are very, very different as adults (in the wild). They become antisocial lone hunters. What humans do is steal them as children and then stall their development, so they never grow up. It's basically cat graduate school.
