@chesed1973 @5SolasMissy Good on you for giving her the benefit of the doubt. What puzzles me is that some people can't conceive that both faith and obedience might be required. So if someone advocates for obedience, it's assumed that we advocate obedience ONLY. It's such an odd strawman.

When we see a post like this, we need to be careful with the tone in which we respond. I don't know Missy. Maybe she believes this. Maybe she is making it up. I don't know. @5SolasMissy, I would love for us to have a dialogue on this. What is it that gives you this impression of us?
Missy@5SolasMissy

Torah observants often speak as though obedience is enough. If they believe they can keep the Torah well enough to be accepted by God, then what do they actually need a Savior for? If your obedience is what justifies you, then Jesus is reduced to little more than an example instead of the One who accomplished your salvation The gospel says Christ saves sinners because they can’t save themselves

Catholics, do you go to confession when you don't have any mortal sins?

@Lumichaoss That's not how it works. There are many verses where he is clear about things and is very clear about praying to the father, however, that does not dismiss who he is in the same co-existence. He was still needed since the beginning of creation. Ignoring this gives you this post.

Jesus, by definition, being sinless, the earthy manifestation of the Father, and being a prophet like Moses, Showed us exactly what God intended keeping the Torah to look like. Want to be like Jesus? keep the Torah like Jesus. Mat 28:19-20 Therefore go, and make DISCIPLES of ALL NATIONS [not just jews], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 TEACHING THEM TO OBEY ALL THINGS [not just one verse] that I commanded you. And look, I am with you every day, even to the end of the age.”

@countmaculad Well, what's better? A lying catholic churches that tells you that you have to do X,y,Z? Or what the scriptures actually say which is to repent and continue to renew your mind in Christ so that you might sin no more in his Grace?

A Catholic believes one mortal sin is enough to send him to hell forever, and unless he confesses it to a priest with true contrition and a firm resolution to never do it again then ordinarily he’s done for. Virtually all Protestants believe they’re good to go unless they apostatize. Do you think the average Prot is worrying about hellfire while he struggles with a porn addiction? Doubt it!
Alton T. Johnson@AL_J82

Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy creates a safe space for for ex protestants who want to live in unrepentant sin.

@Scholastic101 I was none of these. And never could be catholic. I never cared for the false ideologies it had nor cared for it's twisted history. Yet here I am, a Christian because God called me to it. Not Catholicism. Just a former atheist enjoying the stupidity I see on X lol

I was gay and my family accepted me. I was bisexual and my family accepted me. I was transgender and my family accepted me. But as I become Catholic suddenly there’s controversy and issues. There is silent disapproval and false backhanded “support” It’s us against the world.

I find it funny how Calvinists and other Protestants tell Catholics “where is that in the Bible?” But then that energy leaves and they become “philosophical” when they’re talking to Torah Observant believers. We have the only “sola scriptura” position

@BrysonGray If you have to follow that, follow all of it to the tee. You're only hurting yourself here. The difference is that grace gives us the ability to only follow the written commandments of God. The Torah helps us to understand sin and why we failed it.

@IndianaBrunner Technically speaking, yes. It's baptism and given the holy spirit afterwards. That's why baptism is a representation of repentance and acceptance to the Lord. Even if it comes from a pitcher, as long as you are 100% on it, it's fine.

@renewingprotest Christianity exists for 1500 years. Protestants: “No you’re doing this all wrong. I know how to do this better than you.” Do you know how ridiculous that sounds?

Contrary to what Catholics hold to be true, Protestantism DID NOT create a new Church, It RESTORED Apostolic Teaching. The Reformation did not claim: "The church began in 1517" "No Christians existed before us" It claimed: The church had accumulated non-apostolic doctrines. Scripture must judge tradition. The gospel had been obscured. Reform ≠ invention. Protestantism sought to RESTORE apostolic faith, not REPLACE it.
