A few next-gen agent patterns I am curious about: - Explorers: agents that run for a long time looking for new ideas. Similar to autoresearch but in less verifiable domains. - Rubber Duck Agents. Similar to the Thinking Machines demo.... the ability to have a credible interlocutor on demand is an extremely useful thinking aid, made especially so when combined with long term memory... - Sims. I've written a bunch about autonomous loops driven by sensors and clearly defined objectives. Sims can be used to drive the same loops even when production data is scarce.... Every product conceivably should be run in sim as well as in production... - Agent training/skill development. A design pattern for effective agent use is turning concrete successful tasks into abstract skills (reflecting the user's taste, preferred way of handling a problem) that generalize. This is a good example of an improvised user behavior that can likely be productized...
