🚨 Remote drillers in Canada’s Yukon just witnessed something bizarre in the night sky. A pulsating light hovered silently… then suddenly accelerated at incredible speed and vanished. Witnesses say its movements didn’t resemble any known aircraft.

I'm going to suggest you try an experiment: go on some monkey bars, hang upside down with a bite of food in your mouth, then try to swallow it. If you can do that, then I think you'll find that swallowing can occur, independent of your body's orientation relative to gravity's pull.

There are three types of liquid damage in IT. Type 1: water. They tell you immediately. We swap the machine. Easy. Type 2: coffee. They lie, wait three days, and say the keyboard feels sticky. I pop off the spacebar and it looks like a Starbucks drip tray. Type 3 happened today. User handed me a laptop smelling faintly of fermentation. Said it just stopped turning on. I opened the casing. A thick, gelatinous crust covered the motherboard. I asked what it was. They swore they didn't know. I pulled up their chat logs from yesterday where they said they dropped a full jar of artisanal kombucha on their Dell. I closed the laptop. Marked the ticket as biohazard. Sent them a link to the employee handbook section on property destruction. My SLA remains perfect. Their laptop remains dead.

Something happened in the past six months post psilocybin and 5-MeO-DMT that I can't fully explain. The brain data helps but doesn't complete the picture. Feels like a home I didn't know I was looking for. I'm trying to figure out what to do with that now.

Me, personally, for a baseless claim from an internet troll? Almost certainly not. But if it ever escalated to the point of causing real, provable harm, I could pursue a subpoena to unmask the account owner and seek defamation remedies in court. Genuinely curious: are you debating this to prove a point, trying to pin me in a gotcha, or just exploring the boundaries of free speech and the law? What’s your actual intent with these hypotheticals?

You’re more than welcome to make that claim here if you’re genuinely convinced of it. That’s how free speech works. If you actually have convincing evidence, post it. I hope people pile on to examine and prove it. If it’s demonstrably false and damaging, I can ignore the nonsense or pursue defamation claims in court. History is full of “conspiracy theories” that turned out to be true. I'd rather have the power to speak openly when something doesn't feel right than have someone in power tell me what is true and what is false, with the authority to shut down inconvenient conversations to their agenda.

That may well be true, but affording people the ability to discuss them is the only way in which the difference can be discerned. I would rather have a site that allows anyone the ability to discuss conspiratorial topics openly than a site that claims to have the truth and blocks any conversation that strays too far from it.

@kevinnbass Turns out if when your Northstar is engagement and you have no regard for facts or the truth, it's easier to create engagement. What's more interesting conspiracy theories or the truth?

Not true. I was driving down the road once and a chick slowly turned into the weed dispensary in front of me, as she turned across my lane, I saw a gas pump handle and hose dangling from the side of her car. She left the gas station, not having remembered to take the pump handle out of her tank, ripped it off the gas station pump, then drove straight to the dispensary to get more weed, which, almost certainly, was the cause of what happened earlier. One example of countless others.

This, 100%. I am focusing a substantial amount of my time and attention on understanding and building out local intelligence systems. I refuse to own nothing and be happy about it.

People might think I'm fear-mongering, or exaggerating, or clout chasing. If we don't have an alternative we are F U C K E D - You won't be able to work without LLMs - These machines can infer ANYTHING about you from just a quick look at your public presence - If you don't have the $ you won't get the tokens. - Your siblings, your children, your neighbours will be educated by an LLM with no empathy - You won't be able to tell what's real anymore - They can rug-pull you, ban you, bomb you, lie to you, manipulate you, experiment on you, steal your work - You won't be able to disagree, protest, have opinions - You won't have any privacy - You won't have control of your own currency - You will see only what they want you to see Your jobs? Gone Your data? Gone Your art? Gone Your mind? Gone Your life? Gone They can flood you with so much information you will be paralysed. This isn't because they're evil, it's because they have a weapon and fucking you will eventually align with their incentives. Local & Open Source AI is a hedge against that, they will have to provide you a better service if you can just unsubscribe when they raise prices, or fuck you over. Local AI will never be better than what a lab with dozens of gigawatts can serve, but that's not the point. Freedom can only be obtained by owning your dependencies.
