🚨 UPDATE: The Warri House Officer Has Died. With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Dr. Ogbomade Samson Romani, the House Officer at Central Hospital, Warri, who slumped earlier this week and was admitted into the ICU. He died in the early hours of yesterday.💔 Dr. Samson, as he was fondly called, was described by colleagues as hardworking, respectful, and dedicated to his duty. He was a graduate of Niger Delta University (NDU). This is not just another obituary. In February, Dr. Samson was brutally beaten for nearly 20 minutes by hoodlums allegedly arranged by a patient’s relative. He sustained serious facial and abdominal injuries and had struggled with his health ever since. His attackers were never arrested. Now he is gone. Reports indicate he was laid to rest shortly after his passing. This marks the second doctor from NDU lost this week. It is a double blow for the NDU alumni and the entire medical community at large. 🎓 We again call on the Delta State Government and relevant authorities: - Why were the February attackers never arrested? - What protections are in place for healthcare workers? - How many more young doctors must die before action is taken? Dr. Ogbomade Samson Romani was beaten while serving the public. He deserved protection. He deserved justice. He deserved to live. May his soul rest in peace. 🚨 BREAKING: Another Warri Doctor in ICU After Systemic Failure. We have just received a devastating update. A House Officer at Central Hospital, Warri, slumped yesterday and is currently fighting for his life in the ICU.  This is not just a "collapse." This is the tragic result of a system that abandoned him months ago. In February, this same doctor was beaten for 20 minutes by hoodlums arranged by a patient's relative. The first 5 minutes of that beating happened at the hospital gate, right where the security post was, while guards were slow to respond. He sustained severe facial and abdominal injuries. He has not been the same since. Since that day, he has been in and out of sickness, unable to function at full capacity, yet still trying to serve a system that failed to protect him. While his attackers were never caught and the hospital moved on, this young doctor carried the physical complications of that assault alone. Yesterday, during a meeting to discuss the recent Saturday attack on his colleagues, he excused himself because he felt unwell. On his way to the hostel to rest, he slumped and collapsed on the ground. If he had been the one on duty this past Saturday, he would have faced another round of beating while yet to recover from the first. Our hospitals are no longer safe. We are calling on the Delta State Government: Why were the February attackers never arrested? Why was this doctor left to suffer without justice? He was beaten for serving you. Now he is in the ICU. We demand justice. A lot of us depend on this salary for our livelihood. We spent years in school studying yet we are being treated like we don't matter. @MDCNOfficial House Officers deserve better. We complain about this same issue every month. Don't you people have conscience?

House officers in Nigeria are yet to receive their February salary. These doctors work so tirelessly and it’s unfair to be treated this way. @MDCNOfficial your silence concerning this issue is appalling.

@NLCHeadquarters 1. We'll appreciate your prompt intervention to matter. House officers are the junior cadre of Doctors. It has become the nature of the MDCN, led by Dr. Fatima, to owe us our salary; some 7, 6, or 3 months. Even now our February salary is yet to be paid.

It is quite unfortunate that officers of the Nigerian Military will resort to physically assaulting a Doctor at his duty post in the Accident and Emergency Unit of COOUTH in Anambra State. When it has gotten to a point where even defenders of the sovereignty of Nigeria see Doctors as punching bags, we must acknowledge as a Nation that something is wrong. This will not go viral and ganer the much needed attention and action, but when NARD declares a Solidarity Strike on behalf of our battered colleague until the needful is done, you begin to hear voices of reason. The Nigerian Resident Doctor it appears is becoming an endangered specie very rapidly, Nigeria and Nigerians should rise up to defend Healthcare workers. P-MUS of NARD 06:03:2026

📢Introducing the Clinical Reasoning Series – First of Its Kind with IMGN! Medicine isn't just about what you know. It's about how you think. Great internists don't memorize endless lists; they navigate a maze of differentials, spot red flags, and arrive at the right diagnosis

Whenever I see “Internal medicine is just endless ward rounds/continue management ,” I can almost tell the person has only experienced one version of it (mostly the +234 axis).. Before I relocated, I swore I’d never specialise in Internal Medicine. My first NHS job changed everything. Internal Medicine isn’t passive. It’s fast, time-sensitive decisions. Wide pathology. Real-time interventions. For instance , what most people casually see as “just a machine” known as the defibrillator is something I’ve used on multiple occasions to change the trajectory of a patient’s life. ⬇️ I’ve delivered shocks in cardiac arrest, initiated pacing in unstable bradycardia, and performed cardioversion for life-threatening arrhythmias. Location shapes exposure. Exposure shapes confidence. Confidence shapes career choices. If you’re undecided about your specialty, here are a few things that might help: 1.Don’t judge a specialty based on one system. Exposure in a different healthcare environment can completely change your perception. 2.Pay attention to what energises you during on-calls. Do you enjoy acute decision-making? Procedures? Complex diagnostics? 3.Reflect on your natural strengths. Are you drawn to pattern recognition and physiology? Or continuity and long-term management? 4.Seek hands-on experience before ruling something out. What you fear might be what you haven’t fully experienced. 5.Choose based on the life you want long-term, not just the rotation you’re currently in. .
