the saddest thing about all this is that it feels like Apple has lost all of that luxurious software feeling they've had since the early days of OS X as a kid, seeing those extremely detailed and pixel perfect icons of OS X apps always brought me a feeling of amazement and respect for the Apple systems nowadays I feel like that entire vibe has disappeared in favour of some stupid distortion shader.

WHAT were they thinking with these. I don’t mind the dark mode icons but the light mode versions are genuinely Gross why are they so dark and sad

To add the icing on the cake, during the Liquid Glass section of WWDC, they accidentally showed the Apps icon titled as “Launchpad”.

Fun fact: Apple’s Figma desgin kits for macOS Tahoe include this Liquid Glass Launchpad icon. Despite the fact that Launchpad is no longer in macOS Tahoe. 🤔

5 years ago the fan almost never span up on the base MacBook Pro. And people were saying it was even unnecessary. How times have changed...

One more reminder that Slack is a terrible choice for communities, and extort even nonprofits. Even when it’s one teaching teens to code, for free. Hack Club is moving to Mattermost. They really have no choice. Just a poor taste how Slack demands $50K in a week, no real notice

Slack is threatening to shut off a big nonprofit teen coding community @hackclub (which is amazing and which I’ve helped for years) with just 3 days to migrate off. This would strand thousands of of the world’s smartest future coders. They are asking for $50k (a surprise 60x nonprofit price increase) but won’t even give assurances of more time or future service if that’s paid. Anyone who can help? Feels like a mistaken decision on their part by someone who isn’t seeing the whole picture.
