@CodeWShreyans Congratulations Shreyans! Incredible to see Hack Clubbers reach massive impact. 🎉

We are joining Y Combinator!
4 years ago, just weeks after meeting in school, Naman and I recorded our first YC founder intro on Google Meet from our bedrooms in Agra, our hometown in India.
We were 15 but we wanted to change the world just as much as we want to today, maybe even more. They were also just as confident they’d get in (lol).
Today, we’re two 18 year olds building @manicule, an AI native technical documentation studio. We’re already at $150K+ ARR with just a team of 5 and we’ve worked with @greptile, @reductoai, @supermemory, and more.
A year ago, I skipped college to build something real and we keep building now!

@FUTO_Tech @FUTO_Tech thank you for being such gracious hosts to our group of technical teenagers from Austin :-)

We made a mistake. This was the result of an oversight in our billing process, and we are returning Hack Club to its previous nonprofit pricing while we work with them directly to ensure their workspace remains fully accessible. We value the work Hack Club does to inspire and educate young people in coding and technology, and we regret the concern this situation has caused. We will be reviewing our billing and communications processes to provide nonprofits clearer guidance and adequate grace periods as they grow.

Slack is threatening to shut off a big nonprofit teen coding community @hackclub (which is amazing and which I’ve helped for years) with just 3 days to migrate off. This would strand thousands of of the world’s smartest future coders. They are asking for $50k (a surprise 60x nonprofit price increase) but won’t even give assurances of more time or future service if that’s paid.
Anyone who can help? Feels like a mistaken decision on their part by someone who isn’t seeing the whole picture.

Another turn around the sun, and all of a sudden I'm 46 years old! For my last five birthdays, I've given a reverse birthday present, and I am happy to keep the tradition alive this year.
This summer, @HackClub is hosting "Highway to Undercity"—the largest high school hardware hackathon ever—at GitHub HQ in San Francisco. I'm excited to bring 46 high school students to the 3-day event. My $46k gift will fund a grant for each of them to build a hardware project before they come (all the parts), and once they build their device, it will cover their costs to fly to SF and pay for their expenses during the event.

As I write this, a huge wave of innovation is happening in the hardware and robotics space, driven by AI and better/cheaper tooling. I love working with Hack Club because they are geniuses at leveling up promising young engineers through programs like this. I will not be surprised if some of the attendees of this event go on to found companies, ride the robotics wave, and shape our future for the better.
Happy reverse birthday!

We’ve done it! Check us out: github.com/hackclub/hcb. Taking a seven year old codebase and getting it ready to be public was a massive project.

This has been years in the making! Since joining the HCB team in 2020, I've always dreamed of making HCB's codebase public for the world to view- and now it is!

@harrisja are they looking to do highseas.hackclub.com? high seas has a tutorial built in
they can then use github.com/features/codes… and install the wakatime extension there
they will just need to re-install wakatime (the command is on the high seas dashboard when they log in) each time
English

@hackclub I'm checking this out for my high school student kiddos - can you use a Chromebook and participate? That's the computer they have.

@real_lord_miles We partnered with some of the railroad car owners to run a hackathon for high schoolers! youtube.com/watch?v=2BID8_…

Some baller shit honestly.
In the US, you are legally allowed to have your own private railroad car. It costs between $100k-200k but if you want to make it livable, it’ll cost up to $500k.
You can call up a special service to hook it up to any Amtrak rail and travel across the country. Amtrak charges $2 per mile.
The US even has a dedicated group of owners such as the railroad passenger car alliance (RPCA) and American association of Private Railroad Car Owners (AAPRCO)
Very adventure-pilled!
