@calvinfroedge laundry fires are extremely common on navy vessels and it would not be surprising if the smoke caused the sailors sleeping area to need to be cleaned

I see that the "MSM won't show you this" hacks are up in arms claiming that Netanyahu is dead. He isn't. Also, the sheer amount of AI content and outright false information being peddled on X during this war (and others) is through the roof.

@liron I think the US is effectively trapped in the conflict. - Leaving now guarantee an iranian nuclear weapon and will allow them to shoot at the gulf states uncontested - Remaining in the conflict means continued escalation and the strait remains closed for the foreseeable future

@DanielleFong @liron I'm honestly shocked at you. I can tell by the phrases you're using that you're getting bad information. No one in Israel wants Lebanese territory. We are done having people shooting at us that want to exterminate us. If the Lebanese government can't stop it we have to.

@Rory_Johnston Aren't missiles and drone teams still largely acting independently of eachother? I doubt there's any coordination on attacks/targets

The core issue with this is that the Iranian regime remains deeply fractured—there is no one voice in Tehran One group may agree to some deals for passage, but impossible to say that said deal will be honoured by the other elements of the regime or their commanders in the field.

@mercoglianos @USNavy I dont think the USG thought about much before Feb 28. Their primary skill is reality tv

What has caused the most damage to the @USNavy since WWII? MINES! More importantly, for commercial shipping, this threat will keep them in port, inside the Strait of Hormuz, and prevent any ship from running it, without the Navy first demonstrating it is cleared. It was war risk insurance that locked up the ships last week. The Navy had to demonstrate that the Strait was open this week. We have some stray ships running it now, but once you throw mines into the equation, everyone will hold until there are assurances it is clear. The question everyone should be asking is why @POTUS @secwar @SecDuffy @SecRubio @howardlutnick thought that traffic would not seize up when they launched their attack on Feb 28? Did they not realize that war risk insurance was an issue or did they assume that traffic would continue to flow based on faulty intelligence?

NEWS via @CBSNews: U.S. intelligence assets have begun to see indications Iran is taking steps to deploy mines in Strait of Hormuz shipping lane. Iran is using smaller crafts that can carry 2 to 3 mines each. While Iran’s mine stock isn’t publicly known, estimates over the years have ranged from roughly 2,000 to 6,000 naval mines of Iranian, Chinese and Russian-made variants, @JimLaPorta reports

No one doubts that the U.S. can drop large numbers of bombs on Middle Eastern countries and blow up boats in international waters. The skepticism has more to do with seeing what that has and has not accomplished, and where it tends to lead.
Brent Scher@BrentScher

I think a lot of the dove sentiment on the right is because it was burnt into people’s brains that the U.S. isn’t good at war anymore. Images from the Afghan withdrawal disaster made us look like a collapsing empire. This is a different team. Recalibrate your minds.

@6Merican @M_Lansky718 @oren_cass How much would you want to bet we'll have american ground forces in iran by the end of the year. Our air campaign will fail. We wont get the uranium and we wont collapse the regime. Ground forces will be our only option with out admitting defeat

Regime change is definitely goal here. The admin has all But explicitly said so. Thats why we've armed the kurds and are trying tonget protestors out on the street. But the main goal is to get rid of the enriched uranium we missed last time. But that shit is going to be so far underground regime change will be easier than getting to it

Seems like abject cruelty to make Elbridge Colby — who’s probably having the worst week among many bad weeks for those in the administration — do a public speaking tour this week.
Jonathan Guyer@mideastXmidwest

Full house for Undersecretary of Defense (War) Elbridge Colby at @CFR_org. The first question from the presider: "Is Cuba next?" The crowd laughs. Mr. Colby won't comment directly but says the president is "not bound by the shibboleths of the past."

Trump Doctrine in Iran. Massively destroy all military capabilities. Kill the people building lethal weapons to use against us. GET OUT. Reserve the right to do it again if needed. Zero efforts to build Madisonian democracy. Iran must re-build what comes next. 🇺🇸🧐
