@KenneyNL @Steve86094 And this is the reason why it's so rare, there's always that one tool or plugin. Ultimately you're in the same boat as all the rest, trackers cookies and all 😬
English

@Steve86094 As mentioned, it's part of SendFox. I can't remove it, otherwise I'd have to get rid of my mailing list registration. If you go to kenney.nl/assets directly, there won't be captcha or any cookie at all

Been rather busy lately but managed to find time to start work on the fishing rod mechanic 🎣 #godotengine
English

@FR3NKD I only tried with Bazzite as it was marketed as a gaming alternative to windows and thought it would be an easy setup. I daily drive a mac for work. It does kinda feel like a roulette when starting out, so many distros and things that can go wrong without understanding why.
English

@_saminton To be fair it as been easier in the past and I daily drove Linux for months, GPU drivers are easier if you choose Ubuntu.
I think I was unlucky this time, but luck shouldn't be a factor in software.

You download a 6GB ISO.
It takes 20 minutes for some reason.
You download BalenaEtcher.
You flash the ISO onto an external SSD, which takes another 15 minutes.
You partition an NVMe SSD with Windows Disk Management to set up a dual boot.
You reboot and check inside the BIOS.
The SSD doesn't appear as a boot option.
You try to disable Secure Boot and restart.
It still doesn't appear.
You figure it could be this external SSD.
You decide to try a good old 8GB USB flash drive.
You reboot into Windows and it asks you to input a recovery key or something, probably because Secure Boot is disabled.
You flash the ISO onto the USB stick.
You reboot and it finally appears.
You boot from there.
You select "Try or Install Ubuntu" and it throws you a bad magic number error.
F**k.
You think maybe it's because you didn't safely eject the USB.
You boot into Windows again and try to format the USB.
You can't format it because it is write-protected now.
You clean it using diskpart from the CMD.
You flash it again and safely eject the s**t out of it.
You reboot and you still see the bad magic number error.
You go to bed because it's past midnight.
You have no Linux installation on your computer.
You probably need to redownload a supposedly corrupt ISO tomorrow.

@thomasbrushdev With 4k I'd say there are 2 sorts of people:
1. gamers that specifically bought a 4k monitor to get the most out of their games
2. people that have 4k screens for other purposes (design, video work etc) and happen to play games on them.
The former will want to play full res
English

@_saminton I'm going to push back. Running at 4k is a very common performance hit, no? 1080p is a solid benchmark, anything higher can cause any game to struggle. Curious your thoughts
English

@thomasbrushdev I agree 4k is a bit more nuanced. It's not something me or my friends own so I can't really say. However 1440p monitors (what I own) are common and unlike 4k they have a similar PPI to 1080p screens. Where anything other than native resolution becomes a blurry mess.

@prime_31 @rfleury @nicbarkeragain True, requires a lot of manual setup mind. Where Raycast shines imo is with its extensions, there's a ton on macOs for just about any app. If you need something specific you can always make your own just like with shortcuts.
English

@_saminton @rfleury @nicbarkeragain macOS has it at OS level. ofc it’s Apple so it’s dumbed down quite a bit but you can use it in conjunction with Shortcuts to do quite a lot.
English

@nicbarkeragain I see your “command palette” and raise you an “everything palette”

Palettes should be first class functionality provided by the operating system for any program.

@qibng535067 Note to self, never upload .mov files to Twitter/X. Noticed this also after uploading 😬
English

Really stylish game! I’m not sure if it’s just my video quality, but when the character walks into the grass it looks quite blurry......

Some more survival-like mechanics 🪓

@KMkota0 @nikitabier A lot of people seem to forget that twitter / X can be used for things other than political debates 😄
English

@nikitabier we are not all talking politics here,
there must be a better way,
the whole thing about the internet was to connect geographies
English

Starting Thursday, we'll be updating our revenue sharing incentives to better reward the content we want on X:
We will be giving more weight to impressions from your home region—to encourage content that resonates with people in your country, in neighboring countries and people who speak your language.
While we appreciate everyone's opinion on American politics, we hope this will disincentivize gaming the attention of US or Japanese accounts and instead, drive diverse conversations on the platform.
We invite creators to start building an audience locally. X will be a much richer community when there's relevant posts for people in all parts of the world.

@noio_games Could just be something simple like unblocking a passageway behind the logs 🤔
English

@andreintg @_Undergroundies @castpixel You didn't give any context, but sure, specific use cases I agree it can make sense. Using it as a fancy auto complete is a nice time saver. Using an agent to write entire files is way above the abstraction of any visual code editor. I assumed we were talking about the latter.
English

@_saminton @_Undergroundies @castpixel I don't know how you formed this opinion but I suspect you've mostly seen idiots around here saying they vibe coded an entire game with a prompt.
I use it for algos.
AI for coding is just like any other abstraction. The higher you take it, the less personal the result will be.
English

@andreintg @_Undergroundies @castpixel Bad argument 🤦. Visual coding requires you still learn concepts. With that logic you could say why use an engine when you can code one yourself. Every project skips some corners, you can't do/know everything. AI on the other hand let's you skip every corner...
English

@_Undergroundies @castpixel is someone using visual programming lazy because they did't learn how to write code? Or does it only apply to AI? asking for a friend 🫣
