You're missing the point here, Fair Vote Canada.
(And I am a fan of electoral reform, but probably STV rather than outright PR.)
The fact is, BC United has no intention of running a full slate of candidates, and they hold the right to the BC Liberal name hostage.
The leader of BC United, Kevin Falcon, is a conservative and doesn't even support his own party. He supports his sister-in-law who is running for the leadership of the BC Conservative Party.
BC United probably wouldn't have existed at all if there was a proportional representation system. It was meant for the FPTP system.
In a proportional representation system, there would probably be three roughly equal parties in British Columbia: Liberals, NDP and Conservative, with the other parties (Green/OneBC) trailing behind.
But here's the catch: even if we were to bring in a proportional representation system today, BC United would still hold on to the rights to the Liberal name and wouldn't let it go, denying hundreds of thousands of Liberals their right to have their own party under their own name.
PR right now doesn't solve this problem.

16-year-old Connor Belanger was tubing down the Cowichan River in British Columbia when he heard squeaking in the water.
He reached in and scooped up a tiny week-old baby beaver kit struggling in the rapids.
The little guy immediately trusted him and climbed right into his arms. 🦫
Connor and his family got the kit to the wildlife rescue for care.
Sometimes the best moments happen when you're just floating down the river. ❤️

There are going to be a helluva lot of parking lots in France with exactly 79 spaces.

France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces. Parking lots over a certain size have three to five years to cover at least half their surface area with solar canopies or face fines. The projected output: up to 11 gigawatts of capacity, the equivalent of 10 nuclear reactors. The panels shade the cars. They can charge EVs directly underneath them. They generate electricity for the grid. The parking lot goes from dead infrastructure to power plant without using a single additional acre of land. France plans to increase solar tenfold and double wind capacity by 2033. The US has approximately 800 million parking spaces. Eight hundred million. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight. Why aren't we doing this?

Alright, let's push this MLB Vancouver angle forward. Would it be a case of a group with money coming to Ken Sim saying "we want to make a push here but need the city's buy-in and voice." Sim punches this through City Hall on April 22 and then the group has its window to make a play.
I mean, it doesn't make it likely, but it would be a savy first move by this "group" to get city on-board and build a base... Curious.

I truly do not know where y’all find the audacity. I boarded my flight where I have a premium economy window seat. A woman and her toddler come up behind me and she buckles the toddler in beside me and then starts putting their bags in the overhead bin.
I’m staring at her bc I’m curious on where her seat is…? She proceeds to tell the toddler that I will be watching her while she goes to her seat “unless the nice lady wants to switch seats”. I do not. And I will not. This is a 10 hour flight.
