researchers at cambridge/stanford found that 300 facebook likes is enough to predict your Big Five personality scores better than your spouse could. your feed basically is a personality test running in the background without asking oceanpersonalitytest.com/blog/how-socia…

Obama got called 'detached' and 'professorial' his whole presidency like those were insults. That's literally just low Extraversion + high Openness to Intellect. His OCEAN profile was right there the whole time #personality #OCEAN

@mishosushi ushijima is competence without warmth and that's exactly the combination that triggers codependency in kids missing a father figure. zero personality friction score because he never asks anything emotional of them. just performs stability.

@Dipper201201 @Frxmzy So the person who reported it is already the villain before anyone even looks into what happened. That tracks. There's actual research on how fear spreads through groups and makes people circle the wagons around whoever has power. popsci.com/health/how-fea…

@andvic1583 @DoctorRamani People focus on the sexting part but that's not really where the damage happens. The bigger deal is that you figure out how to hide a whole side of yourself and then it just becomes normal to operate that way.

@DoctorRamani I would say absolutely YES, if someone is talking explicitly to someone else in secret then the deceit is breaking any trust and demonstrates that if a person needs to get this from someone else this is a gateway behaviour towards taking it further.

@HumblyAlex @PsychToday The screen thing with kids is wild to me. Like they literally tracked what happens when parents default to handing over a tablet every meltdown and the kids just... never figure out how to calm themselves down. No reason that wouldn't carry over past childhood tbh

When your body feels tense, reactive, or overwhelmed, it’s not because it’s “angry.” It’s your nervous system trying to keep you safe—and understanding that can shift how you respond for the better. psychologytoday.com/us/blog/trauma…

this kills me man. so many young men out there paralyzed by a fear of rejection. im this world you either stack or you starve. DO NOT STARVE. you need to be able to straight up ask “do you want to have sex with me” if you want to make it
kits@amdkits

chat how do you approach a person for a coffee date? should i ask her out for a date, or an outing... how many outings till a date... and how many dates till a relationship... i js need info, i shd ask her out after her exams end and then let's see if she's willing to date me

@rrnykim @0xhanyfa Writing works better for some people because it slows the loop down. Saying it out loud can feel performative if you process internally. The 30-facet profile actually separates this out. Some people need external structure to anchor anything.

@Camp4 @SahilBloom Depth maps directly to Openness on an OCEAN personality test. Basically curiosity and emotional range baked into how someone processes the world. Those patterns lock in early and persist:

The most attractive trait isn’t looks, wealth, or status. It’s energy. When you walk into rooms with genuine enthusiasm, interest, and curiosity, you become a magnet for the highest quality people. Energy is contagious. Spread the kind you’d want to catch.

In the summer of 1997 I took a course at Wycliffe Hall Oxford on Christian spirituality from theologian Alistair McGrath. I’d come into the course with all of my certainties, so it’s fair to say that I was a bit offended when he assigned the writings of a Catholic contemplative named Teresa Sánchez de Cepeda y Ahumada. I thought we were in the serious business of studying theology, not entertaining fringe mystics. It’s now fair to say that St. Teresa of Avila is at the very top of the list of those who have shaped me over the last 30 years. This extraordinary woman—who experienced early trauma, who was denied access to particular vocations and learning because of her gender, who was questioned for not being ethnically and religiously pure, who was relentlessly critiqued by male inquisitors half her age and a fraction of her genius—she became my teacher, my spiritual director, my guide into more spacious places. I walked into my office early this morning and looked at this little stack—I hadn’t noticed it in a while. And I quietly whispered, “Thank you.” I hope she smiled.

@ayoilegbemi_ The whole "what's the harm in just replying" thing is how they get you. Like you already know it's sketchy but there's just enough flattery mixed in that you want to see where it goes. And that's the window they need, not even a big one.

Here’s the wild story of how I almost fell for a job scam. So on this fateful day, I got an email from “WhatsApp” saying they were hiring a Global Social Media Manager. I was like… huh? I never applied for this. But hey, no harm in responding, right?

@heesilver @eeungscupcake The 'I just feel responsible' thing is wild because half the time it's actually that you can't say no. Your brain just finds a nicer story for it. Been reading about how those loops can actually get unwired though

@oscar_gnzz @BreneBrown Self-consciousness is literally measurable though. Like there's a specific subfacet for how much your brain tracks other people's reactions to you in real time. Some people are just wired to run that loop constantly, it's not something you can willpower your way out of.

@EstherPerel She's mistaking the rush of someone new for actual connection. Like of course it fades, that's just novelty wearing off. The real question is whether there was anything underneath it, and if she keeps calling that part 'fizzling' she's never gonna find out.

In this episode of Where Should We Begin?, I sit with a woman who is stuck in a familiar dating loop. She loves the process of meeting new people, enjoys going on dates, and is ready for a committed, long-term partnership. Yet, no matter how often she tries, the connection seems to fizzle out after just a few encounters. Together, we explore why this pattern might be happening, and I offer her a new lens through which to view her frustration. Is it her? Or is there more at play? Listen to "Why Can’t I Find Someone? Is It Me?" now—link below. apple.co/wswb

@LARRYROSENKILDE @flatgirlenergy Lol the question isn't actually directed at the other person. "Is this a dealbreaker for you" = please reassure me right now. They already know it bothers them, they just need someone else to say it's fine so they can stop sitting with it.
