The situation in aluminum is so bad. The primary metal market is screwed six ways to Sunday, and has been basically since the industry began over a century ago. @howardlutnick @SecWar we need the U.S. government to build smelters once again. And this time don't sell them! "During World War II, aluminum was considered so important to U.S. national security that the U.S. government embarked on a program to expand U.S. production capacity, which in 1940 was limited to one producer (Alcoa). Through the government-owned Defense Plant Corporation, the U.S. expanded primary aluminum production capacity by building new smelters to meet military demands. The government-owned plants were ultimately sold to U.S. corporations Kaiser Aluminum and Reynolds Aluminum in 1950."
