Driving is a big one for me. Also cooking, laundry, and long walks. But when I really want to treat myself, I curl up under the covers with my headphones on, close my eyes, and just listen without distractions.

@pearls4swineguy That’s really cool! Beta reading sounds like such a fun experience. I’d actually love to hear more about that, maybe we could talk more in DMs if you’re up for it?

@abbie_zanders I rarely come in on the front end of a series, but I would have no problem reading before a series is done. I got to beta read the first book in a series last year, and I really enjoyed it.

@Gwennammonty Absolutely! If a book struggles with grammar, sentence flow, or is just poorly written, it’s fair for readers to leave a review. Authors are responsible for giving readers their best work, and honest feedback helps everyone both the writer and future readers.

@abbie_zanders Also poor grammar, sentence structure, and books that are generally just poorly written. It’s an author’s job to make sure that what they’re giving the reader is the best possible quality, and if a reader sees that it’s not, then they should review accordingly.

@Gwennammonty Totally! If someone DNF’d because of the story itself maybe it just wasn’t their thing or they saw it differently.

@abbie_zanders If the DNF hinges solely on the quality of the story or the readers interpretation or dislike, then absolutely they should review it.

@DCooperHo Exactly! Sometimes life just gets in the way, or the timing isn’t right, so a DNF doesn’t always reflect the book itself. But if it’s due to pacing, writing style, or story issues, a thoughtful review can be really helpful for both authors and other readers.

@vwsauthor I do this too. When a book really hits, I slow way down just to stay in that world a little longer. It’s the best kind of problem to have 📖💛

@abbie_zanders I can read pretty fast, but I do slow down to enjoy scenes of interest. In addition, there are a limited number of books I really want to read, so in those cases, I slow down simply to make them last longer.

@RachelCGoodhand I love that 😍 those little details are where the magic lives. Some books want to be savored, semicolons and all.

@pearls4swineguy Honestly, same 😅 I’m not savoring on purpose, I just read slow. If I’m enjoying it, that’s all that counts.

@abbie_zanders I'm a slow reader by default. It honestly has nothing to do with savoring. I'm just slow.
