Somaliland is severely impacted by climate change. Yet, on mitigation and adaption, Somaliland is locked out of global discussions. Somalia under HSM is well-disposed towards Somaliland. I think there is opportunity to bring Somaliland into crucial discussions on climate.

Smart of the EU. The strategic importance of Somaliland in an increasingly competitive East Africa is overwhelmingly obvious.

@TiborPNagyJr Governance and willingness of its citizens to promote peaceful environment n counteract any extremism. In Somaliland at an individual or average person-level understand that extremism is illegal and is threat to national security.

Simple question: Why can #Somaliland keep out al-Shabaab with no outside assistance while Somalia - with UN/AU forces, US forces, international training, and $ Billions in assistance - cannot? Is it a simple concept called Good Governance?

Almost nine years have passed since I wrote my first motion on #Somaliland recognition in the Swedish Parliament. Back then, this issue was not discussed at all and hardly any politicians in parliament seemed to know about the situation. Today it’s completely different. Two political parties, the Sweden Democrats and the Christian Democrats are pushing for recognition and the matter is raised, not only by me or my close colleagues. Therefore it was an honor to accept the role as vice chair of the Somaliland-Swedish friendship group in the Swedish parliament. At the meeting yesterday, we also had the honor to have the distinguished Mr. Zakaria Waes, the Somaliland Ambassador to Sweden, at the meeting as well as the Somaliland Special Envoy Mr. Mikael Torstensson. Always a pleasure to meet with both of these gentlemen. Chairperson of the friendship group is Magnus Oscarsson of the Christian Democrats.

Under Somaliland Dulbahante literacy rates went from 95% illiterate to 50% illiterate. Literacy rates are the highest they’ve ever been. Compare this to Buhoodle where illiteracy is at 98%. Somaliland was the greatest thing to happen to Dulbahante.
