As Pastor Franklin realized the farming community is legitimately concerned about their future, he began to look for ways the faith community as a whole can support them. The MSU Television Center produced a short documentary with Franklin highlighting this struggle.

Not sure who's responsible for filming this masterpiece but even as a farmer watching this, I'm still in awe that a seemingly inert seed has all the information required to spring to life in the right conditions and reproduce.

Delta #corn yields have been pretty strong. We greatly benefit from Triple Run Farms’ effort to better assess hybrid performance on various soils. Thanks to Adron, Alex, eight participating seed companies and all involved. 🌽#mscorn #MSUext #mscrops #plant25 #harvest25 #ag

Southern blight of soybean can occur in situations without the root-knot nematode. Rapidly wilted plants are generally easily observed. If the environment cooperates, the causal fungus can be observed at the crown of the plant and oftentimes produces sclerotia #mscrops @MSSOY

Corn #Harvest25 is in full swing in the MS Delta. This dryland plot is rather unique for the Delta and was grown north of Greenwood. Thanks to Ernest, Hayes, Tim, eight participating seed companies, and all involved. 🌽#mscorn #MSUext #mscrops #corn #plant25

#Corn kernels near the tip often fail. Ears prioritize their lower portion and set kernels by 20 days after tassel. Thus, kernels often abort when energy is limiting. Reasons may include: 🌽Saturated soil ✔️Cloudy days 🌽Nutrient deficiencies ✔️Genetics 🌽Variable growth

Deciding when to terminate #irrigation starts by estimating #corn maturity. We do this by evaluating kernel milk-line progress. Integrating crop maturity with soil moisture level allows us to better predict needs and greatly improve #ROI. 🌽#mscorn #MSUext #plant25 #mscrops

CRAZY TOP is a corn disease caused by an Oomycete pathogen. Symptoms include tillering & twisting of upper leaves. The tassel resembles a mass of leafy structures giving it a bushy appearance. Crazy top is more common in fields that are flooded early in the season @CropNetwork
